For sure. But I made it my mission to drop all streaming services to focus on a physical/digital collection. I went with AppleTV for a handful of reasons. First, they aren't going anywhere. Second, they stream purchased content at the highest bitrate of all competitors. Third, they are the least likely to drop purchased content (looking at you, Amazon.). Fourth, you can permanently download your library. Fifth, many films include extras like audio commentary and deleted scenes. Sixth, they support Movies Anywhere. So about 120 of my movies were purchased through Vudu's disc-to-digital service and linked via MA. All my annual streaming subscriptions have expired and I have no regrets.

Superman 2025 is a digital 4K release that plays well as a comic book take on the character, with strong praise for David Corenswet, Mr. Terrific, Krypto, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. It is also confirmed as Movies Anywhere compatible, with Apple TV and Amazon purchases showing up across linked libraries and Apple TV offering permanent downloads on compatible devices. The main knocks are uneven story and tone, with some calling the humor flat or the messaging heavy handed, and others finding the CGI and casting choices weak. A solid option if you want a modern Superman entry with broad digital portability.

  • This digital release is Movies Anywhere compatible and can show up across linked services like Fandango.

  • Apple TV purchases can be permanently downloaded to iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC for offline access.

    Superfood

  • Apple TV can stream the purchased film in 3D on Apple Vision Pro.

    RussellR9553

  • The movie can hold up to repeated viewings, with David Corenswet described as likable as Superman.

    PeterL7956

  • The $4.99 price is for renting, while buying costs $9.99.

    archid00

  • The film's story and casting can feel like a miss, with criticism aimed at acting and overall delivery.

    ThePublisher

  • Krypto CGI and Lex Luthor choices can disappoint, and the movie may not feel worth rewatching.

    MoneyTree

  • The movie can undermine suspension of belief with an "after school special" style turn.

Dunno what it is about the movie but it stands up to repeated viewings. I've seen it four times combined in theater and at home. Corenswet is genuinely likable as Supes and this is coming from somebody who's a big fan of 2/3 of Man of Steel. I thought the last third of MOS was exhausting and mind numbing due to the sheer number of bodies crashing into buildings, etc.

Apple TV also lets you watch it in 3D with an Apple Vision Pro

Such a bad superman. Trying to be guardians I guess? But failed miserably. Bad story, bad casting, bad acting.... Was a shame.
Yeah, should have just made a new justice league

Was a decent movie and disagree about the Superman, I think he did a great job. That said, shoehorning in all the "Superman is an illegal alien, see how evil you are for not embracing and being more acceptable of aliens" nonsense really took me out of the movie at some points.
Yeah, that is the time we live in though. Pushing an agenda and virtue signalling is part of the package now. Just give a groan, an eyeroll, and move on. The worst thing I can say about it is that it breaks the suspension of belief when they turn a bit "after school special." Most everyone knows right from wrong, and I don't think a blurb from a movie will sway someone's heart. I mostly enjoyed the movie though. It was fun/not serious movie.

Wait, you can permanently download your movie/tv library? Last time I checked a couple years ago that was only true for music purchases.

Yes, you can download your purchased content through Apple TV. Here are the exact words at the bottom of every movie and TV show page (The Office, Superman, etc.):

"When you purchase access to this item, you can permanently download it to your iPhone, iPad, Mac, or PC. Once downloaded, you can access this without an internet connection, and Apple can't remove it from your device. If you purchase this from the Apple TV app on Apple TV, smart TVs, or other streaming devices, you can't download it on those devices, but you can easily download it on compatible devices."

Thanks to the one that said it's on prime. Put almost a hour into it before shutting it off. It's terrible. Not gonna bother with supergirl after that trash.

It's nothing like GotG, dude. As a movie, it's only okay, but as a Superman movie, it's the most comic accurate ever made.

Still, though, Christopher Reeve is the best Superman actor, and Tyler Hoechlin has the best written live action Superman storytelling ever filmed.

Not one I need to watch again. Some of the choices were questionable - actor who plays Lex Luthor and the CGI used for Krypto was pretty sad. I did get a kick seeing Metamorpho on the big screen though.
Lol what? Krypto was fantastic. I don't see any problem with Nicholas Hoult, though. He's a good actor. And anyone who isn't that God awful Jesse Eisenberg is an improvement.

There was literally NOTHING in the movie about him being an illegal alien or calling anyone bad for not embracing him. Those are MAGA cultist talking points, and as with all things MAGA, they're not connected to reality.

Agree. Krypto made this move imho. I didn't go in with high hopes but thought this was an excellent reimagining.
