This made me order the machine last night after I added the 5090 and PSU. since it was below $4000 to get a 5090 "PC"
I activated cash-back so I should be getting another 2% back (1% Credit Card, 1% Cash back website)? $ 78.83
$3941.62 - 78.83 = $3862 before tax. It's $262 more before my best Omen 5090 purchase when I started buying but I'm buying it!
We will have to wait until 6/30 to 7/3 for delivery. They don't ship[ until 6/25 or 6/26.

I didn't upgrade since I don't use the GPU much, I have a Intel 285K and a 9950X3D and the CPUs are always below 15% utilization but I don't game. I will swap the 9950X3D into one of these, I like the Omen box with AIO Watercooling over the rig my 9950X3D is in today (air cooled! omg) and only 1000 watt PSU garbage.

Ooops sorry about that. I thought it was basically saying you would never buy an HP Omen which to me meant what I thought it meant.
This is a good deal, I got 2 since I have it for $174.50 cheaper for some reason so I hope others can replicate it also. Under $3900 if I factor in 2% off on cash backs/rebates! haha.

FWIW, I also live somewhat near a Micro Center. The top choices I've identified are Legion > PowerSpec > Omen.

Legion vs OMEN 45L — Hands-on Comparison a bit.
Lenovo Legion Pros
* Reputation — better in the community, though whether it holds up long-term is anyone's guess. On-site warranty was cheap enough that I actually bought it.
* Onboard video — has HDMI out from the chipset. Useful for diagnostics or a quick display swap.
* USB-C rear port — one of them supports DP alt-mode + 20Gbps video out.
* Smaller footprint — roughly 3 inches shorter than the OMEN. Real difference on a desk.
* Better-looking 5090 — RGB on the card itself, much cleaner aesthetic. Matters if you have a glass panel.
* Top-mounted RGB fan — looks great from above, but also drops dust/debris straight down into the main chamber. Trade-off.
Consensus caveat: Most Slickdeals chatter is Legion-only. I've only counted ~2 people in slick deals who've actually had the OMEN in hand.
Lenovo Legion Cons
* RAM is an insult. Not RGB. Not even heatsinked. bare chips exposed and green bard. I was genuinely offended when I opened the case.
* Plastic feel — some panels feel cheaper than the OMEN's plastic, which is saying something.
* Hot exhaust — the rear mesh runs hot to the touch. Could mean great cooling… or just a chamber that runs too damn hot. Jury's out.
HP OMEN 45L Pros
* Looks better. Period.
* Top radiator / vapor chamber — separated from the main chamber, so you could (theoretically) set a drink on top. I wouldn't, but the option exists.
* Push-button side glass — no screws to undo. Genuinely nice touch.
* Front glass panel — high-end look. The Legion looks cheap from the front — tacky logo, plastic mesh covering the intake fan.
* Jet black colorway — clean, no RGB vomit.
HP OMEN 45L Cons
* 2nd NVMe slot is behind the GPU — small hassle for storage upgrades. The Legion's second slot is exposed and easy to reach.
* Bad reputation, but outdated. Old reviews dominate the narrative. Newer ones are more favorable.
* GamerNexus effect — the 45L gets piled on because of an ~1-year-old GN review. Worth discounting in 2026.
TL;DR: Legion = better GPU card, better warranty deal. OMEN = looks like a $3K machine, worse NVME access, fights a stale reputation it doesn't fully deserve.
Design (so far)
My comments have all been about looks — HP just looks better overall. I haven't dug into the actual motherboards on either rig since I don't even know what boards they're shipping. Not a priority for me.

PowerSpec
Never tried one. To me they're all the same category — prebuilts with proprietary bits that limit future tinkering. That doesn't matter for my use case. I'm not swapping motherboards down the line or upgrading the chassis over time. I just want the 5090 out, then sell or gut the rest.
Most enthusiasts want a true custom build with zero proprietary parts. That's a real factor for them. Not for me.

Haven't gotten hands-on yet. Prices haven't aligned for me to jump in on one. Sitting on the sidelines until a deal forces my hand.
Custom Build Experiments
Setup: Built a real custom rig with a 5080 + 2070 for dual-GPU testing.
Results:
* 5080 + 2070: works fine. Stable.
* 5080 + 5060 Ti: crashes. Some weird driver or resource conflict I couldn't track down.
* 5060 Ti + 2070: works fine. Stable.
Conclusion: The 5080 and 5060 Ti don't play nice in the same box. I couldn't upgrade the 2070 to a 5060 Ti in this rig without breaking it. Annoying, but a useful data point — if I want a dual-GPU setup, I have to pick a side of the product stack and stay there.

They also have some weird special deal where if you PAID for Warranty, and do NOT actually get your machine service, you get the warranty money back?? ? Make no sense but I didn't buy it anyway.
