A 1TB nVme is ~160 all over Amazon for a regular not crap green drive. This is a little more than half, normal price.

You are still talking about around double the price of this green sn350. For someone with very limited money that matters

So if I am looking for a new 500gb nvme from a reputable brand today, what I am going to get that beats this price?

Again, not sure why this has so many negatives

Probably because if $50-$60 dollars is so important, you shouldn't be spending your money on an SSD.

Things I am confident about:

1. There are going to be countless cases where $75 (160-85) is the breaking point of a budget
2. If $50-$60 wasnt important, MASSIVE swaths of this entire site would not even be here
3. TODAY ONLY, IN APP ONLY you cant get this for $72 with the 20% discount sale Woot has going on

Again, not sure why this has so many negatives - in fact, lemme make a new post about it

The explanation sounded quite similar to people telling prospective GTX 5070 buyers that they should just save up TWICE the money to buy a GTX 5080

Damn, I need to start selling my stockpile from before the madness. I can't believe it's still 3-4x the prices.

You just validated my point. If $75 is going to kill your budget, save the money for food or rent.

Hurts my soul that 7 (seven!) years ago, a better drive with the same capacity was 40% less than this.

No and no
You have seemingly hinged your point to "food or rent" in a way that I would not

I can easily see scenarios in which building a new pc would be to support a tertiary hobby that seems like a good idea, as long it doesnt go a preplanned budget. If they are on the fence between 2 choices, the extra $$$ over could mean that person has decided photography looks just a wee bit better and gets a camera instead

I gather everyone on a site called "slickdeals" knows about the idea of a budget

Actually, one of the biggest problems in the entire country is that people don't understand budgets. Car loan defaults are at an all-time high, think those people are aware of budgets?
