The Fiskars X25 is a lightweight splitting axe that gets high marks for fast, easy swings and strong leverage on firewood, especially compared with heavier mauls or shorter camp axes. The handle is described as effectively unbreakable, and the axe is said to handle most wood well, with tough knotty spruce as the main exception. The main caution is model confusion, since the X25 and the black 28 inch version appear to have different head weights. Availability also looks shaky, with reports of stock delays and possible discontinuation.

  • The X25 splitting axe can handle most wood and can split tough knotty spruce only with difficulty.

  • The longer 28-inch length provides better leverage than shorter axes for firewood splitting.

  • The X25 model can outperform other Fiskars axes during camping firewood processing.

  • The X25 can feel easy to swing and can reduce the work compared with heavier splitters.

  • Fulfillment can be delayed because customer support reported out-of-stock status with mid-August to mid-October shipping estimates.

  • The X25 listing details can be inconsistent because model variations may change head weight between configurations.

  • The axe's weight and length feel awkward for two-handed use for some users.

  • Orders can be cancelled and refunded if the manufacturer discontinues the X25 and no additional stock arrives.

Is this any good for camping use
Maybe car camping and you plan to split lots of logs while you are out. But for most "camping" I would say no. I'd imagine someone with some land, lots of trees, needing to use this for processing wood at home.

Just got back from a camping trip using this- It outperformed our other fiskar axes by MILES. For the money, its a no brainer.

Thanks, I grabbed one. Thankfully shipping wasn't too expensive. It's free if you buy 7 of them, though!

Just buy it. You'll throw away everything else you have ever split with. I've been using one of these for probably 10 years, we heat with wood for the majority. We have a hydraulic wood splitter the last 4 years now that we are in our mid 60's, but I still like to split down some smaller stuff with this just for the exercise and the joy of using it. And I have whacked the handle on a log enough times to know they aren't lying when they say it's unbreakable! As a mid 60's old lady this allows me to split all but the toughest knotty spruce. While you are at it, get the hatchet too. Just as great a tool as the axe.
100% agree. I've had the same experience.

Good price on a great splitting ax that was made all the way over in Finland.

Buy one or two as gifts for a friend that has a fire pit or a wood stove. They're going to love it.

this is great to hear, i've got a fiskars hatchet and a set of their scissors which are amazing. I'm currently using a channel lock splitting axe which is great, and miles better than the axes my family had growing up we used for camping. I'm in for one of the fiskaras at this price. Even if this is a 2lb variant it might be a nice second axe. I believe my channel lock I have is about 4 lb.

The one that I have says Finland.
Even Home Depot says Finland.
I suppose that if China is a problem, go over to Home Depot, instead. Wink

I think after looking back I may have the 36" version. It's a beast one way or another.

Did the order ship for anyone? The site says handling time is 1 to 2 days. I placed my order on the 21st and it hasn't shipped yet.
