Both are different and have different functionality. I own Creami, we love it!! Only downside is that the pints need to be in the freezer ahead of time (24 hours).. demands planning, this Cuisinart might cut down the planning time.. I cannot speak to the quality of ice cream this makes. Creami makes amazing ice cream though.

Alton Brown just dropped a new ice cream episode two hours ago. He's not lying about the 2qt model being necessary, I always overfill my 1qt. His is a different Cuisinart.

For me $53.99 after a 40% mystery discount but I also had a 30% in my account. Store pickup for extra $5 Kohl's cash as I'll be next door tomorrow. Effectively $38.99. Now I'll have to re-gift the old 1qt!

Making ice cream at home is only cheaper in the long run if you frequently buy ice cream, you also have more control over the ingredients, say you're making Strawberry Ice Cream, you can make it chock-full of strawberries instead of hoping you're getting some good pieces, etc, etc.

You obviously don't have kids? It's a cheap activity with a built in reward and better than most premium $$$ brands. Usually cheaper as well.

A person also knows it has been handled properly. It's a bummer to buy a $7 pint of BnJ's and get home to find it has partially melted and refrozen.

Bought this and returned it. Exchanged for the ICE-100 with compressor. A lot more expensive but well worth it.
