These specs are basically what is recommended for computer science masters students. I'd recommend the macbook neo with education discount, can easily add parental controls and good resale after a few years when they need a better laptop for college

This should be fine for a kid to use while in middle school, right? They mostly use the web and Google docs.

The 5330 is about half a pound heavier than the standard 7330 (carbon fiber) due to cheaper construction materials. Depends on how often and how long it's being carried, a child may be able to feel the difference. The 7330 is/was on sale here https://slickdeals.net/f/19648629-dell-refurbished-latitude-7330-touch-laptop-from-229-free-s-h?v=1&src=frontpage

"Mostly use the webs and Google docs".

That's exactly what I do and I have Asus Chromebook Plus CX34 which is more than enough for my needs. My son gifted me and he bought from Amazon refurbished and paid around $250.

Chromebook is suitable for your kids. My kids' high school used Chromebook for school work.

They may not even need a better laptop for college. I've been using my M1 MacBook Air for software development since 2021 and the Neo's SoC is better than the M1 in some regards.

This is not certified refurbished. It's a used return or trade-in. Title is inaccurate. The keyboard likely still has pieces of the previous owner stuck inside.

This must have the tiniest keyboard ever because usually 13.3" screen models don't have the full number pad on the right side. That's usually reserved for 15" screens.

I think they have some wrong pics - no keypad on 13"

For what it's worth, this is being sold under the "eBay refurbished" program with a two-year warranty from Allstate.

In order to qualify for the two-year warranty, eBay requires the item to be refurbished by either the manufacturer or an authorized reseller. Any items not meeting this criteria are only given a one-year warranty from Allstate.

This item is being listed as Certified Refurbished which is the top tier condition-wise, ranking even above excellent condition.

If you need more peace of mind, sellers found misrepresenting the condition of the refurbished items they are selling face being banned by eBay.

Hope this helps someone if they are on the fence.

i got this for my college going daughter. It looks brand new. With tiny scratch in the bottom. One of the screw in the bottom is missing. It comes with win 11 pro some old version which keeps popping up a message that this version is END of LIFE. I had to download windows 11 assistant which upgraded it to latest win 11 pro.. It was not working from windows default Check Updates page. So far i found nothing wrong with this laptop. Battery 4 hours to 5 hours.. FAN gets noisy occasionally. 32GB ram is there but i'm sure she will never use it.

After getting my gpd win max 2 I really appreciate smaller screen laptops. I used to think 15.6" was the smallest I would want, but really smaller is easier to carry and uses less power. Both of those things are great for portability for laptops!

Good specs, and the tables mode is actually good for note taking with the correct app and hopefully a pen is included.
