The Ridgid EZ Change plumbing wrench is a handy faucet and sink installation tool that shines in tight under sink spaces, especially when a normal wrench or basin wrench is awkward. It speeds up faucet swaps, drain work, and even some toilet jobs, with the square and cylindrical inserts adding flexibility for cramped fittings and basket strainers. The main drawback is fit, since some setups are too tight or have supply line nuts it cannot reach. Price also matters, because the tool has sold much cheaper elsewhere, though the branded version is still described as sturdy and effective.

Common Questions (4)

  • Yes for frequent faucet work: it can speed up install/uninstall, help with brittle plastic nuts, and save a lot of time in cramped spaces. It is especially handy for kitchen and bathroom faucet swaps, though it may be less useful once the faucet is installed.

  • It is useful in very tight under-sink spaces and can make faucet replacement much faster, but it does not fit every setup. A basin wrench still covers many jobs, and some supply-line nut layouts or narrow gaps may require falling back to that tool.

  • Some cheaper versions work, but flimsy knockoffs are a common complaint. Better-quality off-brand versions, including a Harbor Freight version, have been reported to work fine, while the Ridgid brand is often preferred for sturdiness.

  • Yes, it can help with some drain and toilet tasks, including removing basket strainers, changing a rusted kitchen drain, and working on toilet hardware. The cylindrical insert is useful for grabbing basket strainers from inside the sink.

This tool was a lifesaver when I needed to replace my kitchen faucet last year! There is absolutely not room to maneuver under my sink to get a normal wrench in there but with this, it was so quick and easy.

This is the right answer. Unfortunately there are downvote chikans in this thread.
If it's the right answer, then how come no one can link to the Harbor Freight version of this tool?

The right answer would be posting a link to that Harbor Freight tool. I'd pick one up if it existed.

I've used this about a half-dozen times and it really sped up install/uninstall (so much so that my brother asked me to "bring that tool with you to install my new bathroom faucets!").

I mentioned it to a friend and he said that he bought one, but it didn't fit the supply-line nuts for his kitchen sink faucet, so either he's got some unique setup or he was doing something wrong.

Either way, glad I have one.

I'll echo what many others have shared. Having the right tool for the job is a lifesaver! Bought this several years ago when replacing a bathroom faucet where the plastic nuts were brittle and broke when trying to use a wrench. Great for working in areas with very little space.

I wish I had one of these years ago but I just use a basin wrench.
Basin wrench will work for about 90% of the time, then you need this one.
