Sam's also has a deal right now for Purina Tidy Cats Multi-Cat Clumping Litter, Clear Springs Scent, 40 lbs for $14.98. Mentioning as an option for those with a membership
But this is shipped to your home with Prime, no need to have a PLUS account and have to buy 3 of them to hit $50 min. Better than Sam's deal for most IMO.
Just a tip for anyone buying a lot of unscented litter (I wish I had a conveyer belt going from my driveway to my litter box area, lol). Target brand litter is $13.99 for 35 pounds, regular price. It sometimes goes on sale, too. I don't know why it's so cheap. I hope they don't catch on and start charging what everyone else charges. I've been using it a while and I like it. The bag is waterproof (good in case I don't get it off of the porch before it starts raining, haha). And there's a good handle on the side of it to carry it. https://www.target.com/p/fragranc...t=87087912
Fresh Step Advanced Simply Unscented Multi Cat Clumping Cat Litter stands out as a low dust, odor controlling option that works with automatic litter boxes and arrives with Prime shipping on a heavy 37 pound order. The deal math is also strong, with the subscription price working out to about $8.75 per 18.5 pound bag. Fresh Step is described as better than Dr. Elsey's for clumping, dust, and tracking, and as higher quality than Tidy Cats. The main caveat is that cheaper alternatives exist at Costco, Sam's, or Walmart, so the value depends on whether home delivery matters most.
Cat owners using an automatic litter box, because this clumps well enough for LR4 setups and works as a practical middle ground on dust and odor control.
The deal may not look compelling compared with other retailers, since Dr. Elsey's is reported to be cheaper at Walmart and Costco sells a larger bag size periodically.
Yes. The current math works out to about $8.75 per 18.5 lb bag with subscription pricing, which is described as a solid price. Prime shipping to home is also a major perk for a roughly 38 lb item because it avoids membership minimums and buying multiple bags to qualify for delivery.
It is reported to stay relatively low-dust at first, but dust can build up as the litter gets moved around in the box. That makes it a better fit than Dr. Elsey's for people trying to reduce dust in a laundry room or similar enclosed space.
Fresh Step is described as clumping better than Dr. Elsey's, which is called dusty and prone to heavy, messy clumps. It is also favored over Tidy Cats, which is said to lose odor control quickly and can be rejected by cats.
Not always. Sam's has been mentioned with a 40 lb Purina Tidy Cats deal for $14.98, and Costco has been mentioned at 42 lb for $13.50 every couple months, so those warehouse options can undercut the Amazon price if you have membership access.
Yes. It is being used as a Fresh Step base litter in LR4 setups, including a mix with Simply Kitty, and it is described as a workable middle ground for tracking, clumping, and dust. Cats that rejected Tidy Cats reportedly used the Fresh Step box instead.
Does the baking soda in this produce a bunch of dust? I just moved the litter box into my laundry room and everything is covered in dust with Dr. Elsey's
I'm done with Elseys for that reason as well...Just terrible and the clumping is more like heavy pee pancakes that are heavy as heck . I hope this Fresh Step is good. If not, be going back to Clump and Seal...You pay for what you get I'm thinking.......

completely agree... LR4 user here (I have 3 of them).. Elseys (despite the raving reviews) was bad at tracking, clumping, and dust for me..
My go to now is fresh step cut with a little simply kitty from walmart ($15 for 45 pounds).. the combination is not perfect, but it is a very happy medium.. On a side note.. I recently tried tidy cat that was on sale, again had amazing reviews.. My cats refused to use it, they would go into the LR4 and walk right back out and go use the other one that had the fresh step in it. and yes i realize every cat has their own preferences. "better" for my cats might not be better for all cats..

Not that I've noticed. Yeah, I stopped the Dr. Elseys because of dust too. When you first get it, it doesn't seem bad. But as it get moved around in the litter box, it gets dustier and dustier.
I think you have to scoop/replace litter every day. But yeah, I have noticed that Dr Elsey's has gone downhill. I just assumed it was every clay litter though. My friend uses pine pellets and it seems way easier to clean.

Thanks for sharing - my go to default has been Walmart $15 for 45 lbs, it's served us well and both kitties have no issue using it (unlike many of the scented brands which they hated): https://www.walmart.com/ip/Specia...8074163753
I'll try to Target one and compare it, thanks to your suggestion!
I try not to order heavy items from Amazon after seeing a tiny girl dragging a 50 lbs box to my front door. At least Fedex and UPS provide dollys for big/heavy items.
Their jobs are hard enough already delivering all the crap I buy (thanks SD) than to add a power-lift session to it.

Unfortunately, Tidy Cats is not nearly the quality as Fresh Step. Tidy Cats stinks very quickly.

I feel bad about it, but I'm disabled. I need to get my drivers some snacks.

Prime shipping can deliver the 38-pound litter to home without needing a Plus account or buying multiple units to reach a minimum.
Fresh Step is described as a better-performing alternative to Dr. Elsey's for dust, clumping, and odor control.
The current subscription math works out to about $8.75 per 18.5-pound bag, which is presented as a solid per-bag price.
Fresh Step is described as a workable option for LR4 automatic litter boxes when mixed with Simply Kitty for a balance of tracking and clumping.
The deal may not look compelling compared with other retailers, since Dr. Elsey's is reported to be cheaper at Walmart and Costco sells a larger bag size periodically.
Dust can increase over time as clay litter is moved around inside the litter box, which led some people to stop using Dr. Elsey's.
Baking-soda litter may raise dust concerns, since a laundry-room setup reportedly became covered in dust with Dr. Elsey's.
Clumping performance can be disappointing with some clay litters, including reports of heavy "pee pancakes" and poor clumping with Dr. Elsey's.

How so? Dr Elsey's is also multicat (whatever that means) and unscented.
