This 36 inch Blackstone is a large propane flat top built for smash burgers, fajitas, teppanyaki, and other bulk cooking, with strong results on steaks and steady heat for parties or large gatherings. The newer Omnivore plate is described as needing fewer BTUs to reach high heat, and the hooded setup is a plus for some. The main cautions are the 38,000 BTU rating, reports of uneven heat with a hotter center, and the non hinged lid that can slip off the pins. It looks like a practical griddle if the lower BTU design and lid style fit your setup.

Common Questions (5)

  • No, this model does not have a hinged lid. The hood is a removable, more rounded cover, so it can be less convenient than Blackstone versions with a true hinge-lid setup.

  • It can reach high heat, and the Omnivore plate is designed to need fewer BTUs for efficient heating. A practical caveat is that some users report the 38,000 BTU version heats unevenly, with the center hotter than the outer areas, and others prefer the 60,000 BTU model for faster 400°F+ performance.

  • No, a lower price is mentioned elsewhere: Tractor Supply has the same griddle for $299. Another buyer also paid $360 delivered with tax, which shows the deal can vary by retailer and location.

  • It works well for smash burgers, fajitas, teppanyaki, steaks, and other bulk cooking. The 36-inch size is especially useful for parties or large gatherings because it offers a big, consistent cooking surface.

  • Yes, storing it in a garage is recommended if possible to help protect it from weather and wear. That advice comes up alongside strong cooking performance, suggesting it is worth keeping covered and sheltered when not in use.

Careful. I saw many deal this past week on 36" blackstones. This one and many other only are 38000 btu. The one for 400 at BJ's is 60,000 btu. Read comments on the lower btu one having trouble heating to 400+. I opted for the 60k one and it is a beast.

I wouldn't care if this was 2,3 ot 400. I would just get one. These are just phenomenal for smash burgers, fajitas, teppanyaki or any other foods that you want to make in bulk and quickly. We use ours at least once a week and the heat is so good and consistent and the size is perfect for a party or large gathering. You'll be saving money from the get go as well

The tractor supply deal was the original thicker plate with more btu....marketing is great..." now with thinner top plate and lower needed BTU for faster heating". I'll take the thicker griddle top all day over this.

Is that just marketing speak for "thinner plate"?
