This 36 inch Blackstone is a large propane flat top built for smash burgers, fajitas, teppanyaki, and other bulk cooking, with strong results on steaks and steady heat for parties or large gatherings. The newer Omnivore plate is described as needing fewer BTUs to reach high heat, and the hooded setup is a plus for some. The main cautions are the 38,000 BTU rating, reports of uneven heat with a hotter center, and the non hinged lid that can slip off the pins. It looks like a practical griddle if the lower BTU design and lid style fit your setup.

  • The hinged lid design can help prevent hinge-pin loss and may be worth paying extra for.

  • The griddle can produce strong, consistent heat for smash burgers, fajitas, and teppanyaki during frequent weekly cooking.

  • The 36-inch size can work well for parties and large gatherings by supporting bulk cooking quickly.

  • The hood design may have a more rounded shape than other 36-inch hinge-lid Blackstone griddles.

  • The newer Omnivore plate may use a thinner approach with wind guards, and some buyers may still prefer the thicker higher-BTU plate instead.

  • The lid can fall off hinge pins onto the ground, which can create a safety and inconvenience problem.

  • Cooking performance can be uneven, with the center running much warmer than the outer cooking area.

  • Some 36-inch Blackstone deals may be limited to 38,000 BTU, and that lower-BTU setup can struggle to reach higher temperatures.

What's the difference between this and the Costco one for $500 besides the cover? https://www.costco.com/.product.4000397074.html

Saw this in action and wasn't impressed to be honest. It cooked very unevenly. So the center was much warmer than the outer area. Seems pretty cheaply made tbh.

Is that just marketing speak for "thinner plate"?
Omnivore is the newer model with lower btus with included wind guards. they claim it's more efficient (who knows) . the older one is thicker plate with higher btus and no wind guards

I've seen people do the math and say the omnivore saves you money in the long run with propane use/efficiency, but given similar pricing, i'd take the original
