Another Sony-sponsored sale, matched by all major retailers. The original model (SS-CS5 without the "M2") sold for a lot less. This is the lowest price point on these yet, but this price should really be their regular price. Sony has been price gouging.
Just to put things into perspective: after the lauded FP deal at $198, there were two lukewarm sales at $178. Now it is down to $153, all in a span of only 3 weeks. The MSRP is just BS. Like I said, $153 should be the regular price.

Was... the originals used to be $73 every few months, but haven't seen that price in years... I bought several "used very good" for under $28 per speaker in 2019 (yes, the before times where historical prices have no meaning today) during a $73 sale and with a 20% off amazon warehouse deal... but that's hardly repeatable these days. The "mark 2" version with slightly improved bass doesn't seem too exciting for me since I use them with a sub. I put some isolation pads under them, so the "less vibration" other improvement of the M2 also isn't an issue for me with the oldies. The super tweeter has always been kind of a gimmick, but they kept that in the M2.
Nice size but if it still requires sub kinda overkill size. I'm trying to replace my small HTIB speakers with just 2 good stereo speakers connected to Yamaha AVR for music listening, can't seem to decide what to get that won't cost thousands..
