Shokz OpenRun SE is an open ear bone conduction headset that fits workouts, cycling, running, and everyday listening while keeping ears open to surroundings. Sound is described as surprisingly decent for bone conduction, though it will not match regular headphones and can feel only okay or not loud enough outdoors. The magnetic proprietary charger is the main tradeoff, with waterproofing benefits but a risk if the cable is lost. Battery life is also reported around four hours, and it is not intended for swimming.

  • The magnetic 2-pin charging connector can help keep the headphones waterproof.

    ms1951BeigeLlama8650

  • The open-ear bone-conduction design can be useful for cycling and running while still hearing surroundings.

    AmusedLadybug6798Zorba1446

  • The OpenRun Pro 2 model can offer universal USB-C charging instead of a proprietary magnetic cord.

    Caspertoo

  • The Aeroplex model can last around five years with heavy outdoor use before a power-button failure.

    JuliusTrey

  • The proprietary magnetic charging cable can be inconvenient and can be difficult to replace if misplaced.

  • The OpenRun SE sound can be only OK and may not get loud enough for outdoor running.

    DreadPirateWesley

  • Battery life can be limited to about four hours, which can be short for longer workouts.

  • After warranty ends, support can be limited to discounts without repair or exchange options.

Was gifted a pair of these. SQ is surprisingly decent for a bone conduction headphone, and it's certainly useful to have when out cycling or running. Just don't expect the same SQ you'd get from normal non-BC headphones.

I bought this on Costco a few months ago for this price and returned after a month. Love the open-ear technology but it barely latsts 4 hours on one charge, has its own proprietary charging cable, and isn't compatible with the Shokz app.

Canadian Amazon, Bestbuy and some other stores are selling Shokz OpenRun Pro2 for $150 today for some odd colours and all other colours for $175 Canadian.
$175 Can = $125US.
I am not sure if there is a newer model getting release or Shokz clearing this product line.
Shokz's Canadian site also selling them for $175 Can.

I have the SE. Its ok. I use it primarily for work and listening to music while being aware of surroundings. It does have a magnetic connector but the usb-call version is better primarily because it has a rubber cap to keep water out and I don't need a proprietary cable to lose eventually. Otherwise the sound is ok but doesn't get loud enough when running.
You can buy extra cables. They are very cheap on Amazon. They also make a holder with it built in.

works just fine, as long as you don't lose it of course---would be a PITA to replace.
