This Rowenta Pro Steam Iron stands out as a high heat, high steam iron with a stainless steel plate and a Made in France build on the Costco version. The 1775 watt draw and strong steam performance make it feel like a premium model for the price, and the in store price has been seen as low as $39.99. The main cautions are occasional dripping as it ages, a flimsy dial on some units, and enough power draw to trip breakers on crowded circuits. A solid pick if you have a suitable outlet and want a serious steam iron.
Common Questions (5)
The Rowenta is praised for strong steam performance and a solid price, while the Costco CHI is often preferred for long-term reliability. The CHI retractable-cord model is also reported to have lasted over two years, while some Rowenta units have had issues like dripping, leaking reservoirs, or a flimsy dial.
The Costco version is reported as made in France, with in-store units labeled "Made in France." That matters because some Rowenta irons sold elsewhere are made in China, and the Costco listing appears to be the higher-end French-made version.
Yes. The iron is described as a solid buy at $49.99, and some in-store Costco pricing was even lower at $39.99 for the same French-made, 1775W stainless-steel model.
It draws up to 1775W, so it can trip a breaker if other devices are on the same circuit. Using a less-loaded outlet or circuit stopped the breaker trips.
It can occasionally drip a little water onto clothes as it ages, and a quick press of the steam button may clear it. A separate long-term issue reported is reservoir leakage after years of use.

I have same mode bought from BBB when there Brick and motor store existed.
Made in China. The steam feature stopped working and the plate/sole is sticking to various things for no apparent reason. I no longer use it and bought CHI from Costco.

i invested $100+ on a particular panasonic, i generally love panasonic stuff... had it for about 10 yrs now... it's not nimble, rather bulky.
these two, the rowenta and that CHI, both look very nimble and compact, features I like.... in particular at least via photos, that CHI looks very quick on its feet, so to speak.
Returned it and got the Chi iron with retractable cord. Much better .
