This Rowenta Pro Steam Iron stands out as a high heat, high steam iron with a stainless steel plate and a Made in France build on the Costco version. The 1775 watt draw and strong steam performance make it feel like a premium model for the price, and the in store price has been seen as low as $39.99. The main cautions are occasional dripping as it ages, a flimsy dial on some units, and enough power draw to trip breakers on crowded circuits. A solid pick if you have a suitable outlet and want a serious steam iron.

Common Questions (5)

  • The Rowenta is praised for strong steam performance and a solid price, while the Costco CHI is often preferred for long-term reliability. The CHI retractable-cord model is also reported to have lasted over two years, while some Rowenta units have had issues like dripping, leaking reservoirs, or a flimsy dial.

  • The Costco version is reported as made in France, with in-store units labeled "Made in France." That matters because some Rowenta irons sold elsewhere are made in China, and the Costco listing appears to be the higher-end French-made version.

  • Yes. The iron is described as a solid buy at $49.99, and some in-store Costco pricing was even lower at $39.99 for the same French-made, 1775W stainless-steel model.

  • It draws up to 1775W, so it can trip a breaker if other devices are on the same circuit. Using a less-loaded outlet or circuit stopped the breaker trips.

  • It can occasionally drip a little water onto clothes as it ages, and a quick press of the steam button may clear it. A separate long-term issue reported is reservoir leakage after years of use.

Unfortunately likely made in China now.
I have same mode bought from BBB when there Brick and motor store existed.
Made in China. The steam feature stopped working and the plate/sole is sticking to various things for no apparent reason. I no longer use it and bought CHI from Costco.

Pass on the Rowenta. I bought the CHI Electronic Clothing Iron with Retractable Cord
Item 1431472
As replacement has been running strong for over 2 years.
I have seen this in store and it is 'Made in France'.

Just a heads up: this unit has a maximum power draw of 1775W. If you have other devices plugged into the same circuit, YMMV—it may trip the breaker.
During the first month of use, I had to go down to the basement several times to reset the breaker. After I moved it to a different outlet on a circuit with few or no other devices plugged in, it stopped tripping completely.
Just something to keep in mind.

The ones Costco sells are typically higher end models which as posted below are either Germany or France.. the one from this deal is France.

I picked mine up yesterday at Costco $39. Made in France. 1775W. Stainless Steel plate. All the right specs, so great deal.
