I can wholeheartedly recommend the games - they are two of the best 3D platformers ever made (and in the case of SMG2, I find it's the best ever made). Whether it's worth it depends on if you've ever played them before and if you have any other way of playing them currently. I bought SM64/SMS/SMG chip from japan. Out of all of them, SMG was really fun and stood out quite a bit. I think having higher rez graphics will make the game feel more current than the emulation version.

Have you ever played Galaxy 2? At first I didn't like how it lacked a true over world like in Galaxy but the levels are amazingly creative and some are extremely challenging! It's definitely the pinnacle of 3D platforming in my mind.
