The temperature dial does NOT turn on the heating element. There is a switch on the side to turn it on, then you set the dial to desired temperature. Don't be an idiot like me and call tech support asking why the device isn't turning on, just RTFM instead.

It's a very nice little deep fryer. I like that you can put the basin, lid, etc in the dishwasher. The self-draining mechanism was convenient. I realized that deep frying indoors is not for me. The oil smell in the house was noticeable after just one deep frying. Also I just did not deep fry enough to justify the oil usage. Costco pre-made breaded/fried products cooked in an air fryer seemed just as good and less work/messy.

I might try again if I ever have a covered outdoor space to fry at and a garage fridge to store the oil in so it lasts longer.
