GPU will last the life of this rig, just run lower settings if you are playing more demanding games. And 16gb is fine if you are just gaming/light tasking. Chrome will adjust to whatever ram you have, it's not going to crash your PC. You are trying to get him to put $1000 (~$600 for 5070 ~$400 for 32gb ram) into upgrading a $900 PC 😂 Game companies are going to keep making games that will work on the handheld PCs as that's a big market right now, this PC would crush any handhelds (any I know of?).

Would also crush the steam machine, that has like a 3060 equivalent GPU. I know the market is screwing them, but I also feel they are $300 off of a fair price in todays market for what it is. Pre-AI boom I feel it's a solid 5-600 rig.

Acer Nitro 60 is a budget gaming desktop that looks strongest for 1080p play, with some 1440p gaming and DLSS support for heavier titles. The RTX 5060 8GB is described as enough for older games, indie titles, and many AAA games at medium to high settings with tweaks, and the system should handle everyday use and light editing. The main limits are the 8GB GPU and 16GB RAM, which can feel tight with background apps and may push upgrades later. It is a solid midrange starter tower if you do not need top tier settings or easy high end upgrades.

What's wrong with those? I'm new to the pc space and I'm trying to get one but I don't expect it to run huge AAA games at 4k with ultra settings at this moment, just a few older games and steam games at 1080 or 1440p at a decent framerate. Would this be fine for that?

More than fine, I have a PC with similar specs and do HD gaming at high quality settings perfectly fine.

I have a feeling this is just a tad bit better than the new Steam Machine that's priced at $1050.

You can still run the vast, vast majority of games at decent or good settings, if you make some tweaks to the texture settings or other graphical options. 16GB of RAM is on the low-end of viable right now (just make sure you're not running a bunch of apps in the background while you're gaming to prevent stability issues), but you can always upgrade it in the future if/when memory prices can normalize.

The way prices are today, You are right, this is not a bad deal. I have friends that have very similar systems and thanks to DLSS 4 they can play games like cyberpunk and other AAA games. Do they get 60 FPS in 4K, No, but with medium settings they can get 40-50 FPS @ 1080 and a few games in 1440, (which is very playable). Not everyone has $2500-$3000 for a computer and this could fill the gap very nice.

More than fine, like the other person said. If you've seen the PS5 or Xbox Series X, this is decently more powerful than those, and roughly comparable to a PS5 Pro in performance.

I too have a rig with rtx 5060, but a weaker cpu and only ddr4 3200mhz ram (basically my rig is weaker) and I run games at 1440p and upscaled 4k just fine, at 60+ fps. With dlss frame gen, even smoother. (some people hate frame gen but I think it's great to jump from 60fps to 120+ fps)
