CAP Barbell ADJUSTABELL dumbbells come across as a strong budget adjustable option, especially for buyers comparing them with BowFlex SelectTech or PowerBlock pricing. The 55 pound model is described as secure, easy to adjust, and close to market price for similar quality, with long term ownership also sounding positive. The main tradeoffs are the fixed full length even at lighter settings, occasional awkward re racking, and a bottom heavy feel that can take getting used to. Plastic internal parts and durability concerns are also raised, so the value depends on how hard they will be used.
Strength trainees who want a budget adjustable pair, because it feels comparable to pricier 55-pound competitors while staying far cheaper.
Buyers expecting premium long-term build quality, because these can feel less durable than higher-end alternatives and one comparison favored paying more for a sturdier pair.
Lifters who need compact dumbbells for flys or other floor work, because the bottom-heavy shape can rotate in the hand and the full length stays the same on lighter settings.
At around $100 each, it is priced close to comparable 55 lb adjustable dumbbells and is still cheaper than many other brands. It is also described as a solid budget alternative to PowerBlock and roughly one-third the cost of BowFlex SelectTech 552s.
Several owners describe them as holding up well over years of use, including a 5+ year owner and another who says they are still great after buying a pair. One caveat is that the weight-selection mechanism uses plastic rings that can break with frequent use.
Yes, buying two is a common way to build a pair and extend the usable range up to 80 lb, which is still far cheaper than many higher-capacity adjustable sets. This makes the single-dumbbell deal more flexible if you want a matched pair later.
They are reported to feel similarly good to BowFlex SelectTech 552s while costing much less, and one owner prefers these overall. A minor difference is that they can rotate slightly in hand during flys or other floor exercises because the bottom is a bit heavier.
The dumbbell is described as secure and easy to adjust, with the main annoyance being that re-racking can be awkward on some settings. It also keeps the full length even at lighter weights, which matters for moves like goblet squats.
I have purchased my first adjustable dumbbell set and never again, these types of units have horrible balance because of big cut out in plates, they roll in your hand as you move them, the heavier the weight the worse the balance, unnatural, what brand does not matter, the design is all the same. Not enough people are talking about that.
Have this. Solid pair of adjustable dumbells, higher quality than the fitrx dumbells which broke on me in a year. If you aren't gonna shell out the money for power blocks, this is a solid budget purchase.
Almost bought at 130, almost bought at 120, in for 2 at 100 a pop!
I got a set of these at $75/ea a couple months ago and they are equally as good as my BowFlex SelecTech 552's but cost 1/3 the price of those so this is a great deal and 100% worth paying $65/ea and still easily worth paying the full price $90/ea. Try both brands and you'll agree they both work well.

They do want to rotate in my hand a bit when I'm doing flys or any excercise where I'm on my back vs standing up (since the bottom is slightly heavier than the top) but it hasn't been a problem for me and I'm fairly weak and don't exercise regularly and have never been to a gym. I use between 20-35 pound setting for all my exercises. My BowFlex SelecTech 552's feel like they are more bottom-heavy so these are not only 1/3 the price of those but these feel like they work better overall so these are the only ones I prefer to use now.
Just need to find the energy to exercise and this would be great.
Kettlebell workouts are much easier on the body, even when tired or unmotivated, smooth fluid movements when done correctly, can get a great workout if you push it hard. Great option for 40+ adults.

Would love it if it was a pair at this price, but that seems wildly unrealistic.
