CAP Barbell ADJUSTABELL dumbbells come across as a strong budget adjustable option, especially for buyers comparing them with BowFlex SelectTech or PowerBlock pricing. The 55 pound model is described as secure, easy to adjust, and close to market price for similar quality, with long term ownership also sounding positive. The main tradeoffs are the fixed full length even at lighter settings, occasional awkward re racking, and a bottom heavy feel that can take getting used to. Plastic internal parts and durability concerns are also raised, so the value depends on how hard they will be used.

  • The adjustable dumbbells can feel secure during use and are easy to adjust between weight settings.

  • The dumbbells can keep the full length even on lighter settings, which can help for movements like goblet squats.

  • The dumbbells can match the feel of BowFlex SelectTech 552s while costing far less per set.

  • The dumbbells can be a solid budget alternative when compared with FitRx adjustable dumbbells that broke within a year.

  • The weight selection mechanism can use cheap plastic rings that may break with frequent use and can make the mechanism inoperable.

  • The cut-out plate design can create poor balance, which can make the dumbbells roll in-hand more at heavier weights.

  • The dumbbells can rotate in-hand slightly due to a bottom-heavier design, especially during exercises performed on your back.

  • The sub-35 lb rubber dumbbell can have a slightly larger circumference that may take getting used to.

I have purchased my first adjustable dumbbell set and never again, these types of units have horrible balance because of big cut out in plates, they roll in your hand as you move them, the heavier the weight the worse the balance, unnatural, what brand does not matter, the design is all the same. Not enough people are talking about that.

Have this. Solid pair of adjustable dumbells, higher quality than the fitrx dumbells which broke on me in a year. If you aren't gonna shell out the money for power blocks, this is a solid budget purchase.

Almost bought at 130, almost bought at 120, in for 2 at 100 a pop!
I got a set of these at $75/ea a couple months ago and they are equally as good as my BowFlex SelecTech 552's but cost 1/3 the price of those so this is a great deal and 100% worth paying $65/ea and still easily worth paying the full price $90/ea. Try both brands and you'll agree they both work well.

They do want to rotate in my hand a bit when I'm doing flys or any excercise where I'm on my back vs standing up (since the bottom is slightly heavier than the top) but it hasn't been a problem for me and I'm fairly weak and don't exercise regularly and have never been to a gym. I use between 20-35 pound setting for all my exercises. My BowFlex SelecTech 552's feel like they are more bottom-heavy so these are not only 1/3 the price of those but these feel like they work better overall so these are the only ones I prefer to use now.

I've had mine for 5+years and they are amazing! You have to get used to the slightly larger circumference of a sub 35 pound rubber dumbell

Kettlebell workouts are much easier on the body, even when tired or unmotivated, smooth fluid movements when done correctly, can get a great workout if you push it hard. Great option for 40+ adults.

How is the quality? I always afraid one of plates will fell of and hit me in a face when doing reps.
