This is a cool set and worth the current price. For play it's better than the others - has a nicely integrated handle for kids to hold and move it around without crumbling.
Unlikely to be the best investment (the minifigs will be worth the set cost in a decade if kept nice); BUT there are several larger (larger/more detailed/more expensive therefore more rare) models that will likely see the big price spikes.

I must resist buying this set just for the Kal minifig lol

Actually not bad folks. Just alone one has about $120 in mini figures, and at current price, more than worth it. It's also the lowest of anytime for this model.

The larger UCS set is no longer available at retail and had its run up so this isn't a bad set for investment if the price is right, mainly for the bonus minifig.
