I know these are cheap, but would recommend if you can afford go with govee refrigerator+freezer sensor - get a 2 pack which connects to one receiver and alerts you in the app if the temperatures go above your preset temperature. It's a prime day for Amazon so there is a sale. I got it for the same price a year ago and it's been working great. The sensors operate on AAA batteries which I haven't needed to change yet.

Yep, I would agree to go with sensors that alert you, if you can. Personally, I went with Ecowitt sensors that send me notifications through Home Assistant.
