These Seventh Generation Free and Clear dishwasher packs are being framed as a strong low price on a plant based pod, with checkout math putting them around 9 cents per pod when Subscribe and Save, multibuy discounts, and digital credits stack. The appeal is convenience and a cleaner ingredient profile, especially for households avoiding harsh chemicals or PVAs. The main cautions are performance and packaging concerns, with reports of extra suds, soapy film, and weaker cleaning on stuck on grease or silverware. A practical option if the price matters more than maximum cleaning power.

  • The checkout math can produce about $26 total for three 72-count packs using multibuy savings, Subscribe & Save, and a $3 digital credit.

  • The per-pod cost can work out near $0.09 when the multibuy discount, Subscribe & Save savings, and reward credits are applied.

  • Subscribe & Save can apply a $15.90 off coupon that lowers the effective price at checkout.

  • Some shoppers report switching away from Seventh Generation pods for plastic/PVA concerns while still finding the deal price tempting.

  • Plastic and microplastics concerns can lead shoppers to avoid pods with plastic components or to switch to alternatives like Blue Land tablets.

  • The detergent can underperform on heavily soiled pans with stuck-on grease and may require mildly dirty dishes for better results.

  • The pods can be extra sudsy and may spill or leave a soapy-tasting film depending on the dishwasher.

  • Some users report that silverware sometimes comes out not fully cleaned even when the pods work decently overall.

I typically concentrate on the one star reviews and they indicate this brand is extra sudsy in a negative way as depending on your machine, they can spill out or worse leave a soapy tasting film. I'll stick to Cascade and Finish.
I think this reflects the machine of the users, not the product. I've gone through several bags of these and not once noticed more suds than other major or store brands.

Just buy the powder and you can save more because you get more... I don't get the obsession with pods
Yes, powder can be less expensive, but a person has to dose correct amount. People often use too much powder and lose the savings it can provide. Pods eliminate that problem, so I get why some are attracted to the convenience factor. We've switched to cakes like Blueland and Finish classic.

GREAT DEAL! I've stopped using the pods because of plastic, but the cheap Slickdealer in me is finding this hard to resist
Why? You do know that the racks are coated in plastic*. Likewise, any plastic you put in there (part of tongs, lids, cutlery, brushes, etc) will also "contaminate" your dishes with microplastics. If you use a DW, you cannot get away from microplastics on your dishes and silverware, etc.

*I had to buy new used racks, and I needed to remove any rust and treat them with liquid vinyl and caps on the tines. They're all vinyl but at least the caps are BPA free.
