You can buy the Switch 1 version for $30 and then buy the upgrade pack for $10. Switch 2 version is $45, so you will end up paying $5 less. You pay even less than that if you buy one of the current eShop card deals at 10-15% off and use that to buy the upgrade.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is a visually strong, combat solid entry that still feels like a weaker Prime game overall. The $29.99 Switch 1 price is notably low, and the Switch 2 Edition can be reached more cheaply by buying the base game and upgrade pack separately, with the upgrade pack also showing up around $9.49 to $9.99. The main knocks are its linear structure, repetitive scanning and backtracking, and a padded fetch quest or crystal grind. A few comments also point to cartridge load speed issues on Switch 2, making the cheaper route more appealing if you want the game without paying full Switch 2 Edition pricing.
Switch owners who plan to upgrade later, because the base version plus upgrade pack can cost less than buying the higher-tier edition outright.
It has strong visuals, combat, and art direction, but several comments describe it as the weakest Prime entry, with linear progression, repetitive scanning, forced backtracking, and padded fetch quests. A few still call it a good game, but the main caution is that it may not live up to the Prime legacy.
Yes. The Switch 1 version can be paired with the Switch 2 upgrade pack, which is listed around $9.49-$9.99, and that can cost less than buying the Switch 2 version outright.
The $29.99 listing is for the Switch 1 version. The Switch 2 version is listed separately at $44.99, so shoppers should toggle the product page if they want the newer edition.
Yes. The Switch 2 Edition cover text indicates it includes the Nintendo Switch game plus the Switch 2 Edition upgrade pack, and that setup is playable on both original Switch models and Switch 2 systems.

Not a bad game. Generally favorable so above average. At full price it likely leaves a sour taste if you're not on the high end of that spectrum. (All from MC) I haven't played it, but I'm sure as heck not going to listen to random people on Slickdeals who never played it. 😅
It's so frustrating that they will do this for physical all the time...but much less often for digital.
If you can cut the price in half for a physical product you need to ship and deliver, why not for a digital code you only need to E-Mail?
It's a good thought, but retail shelf space is limited. Warehouses cost money. The reason physical games go on steep discounts is because stores/suppliers don't want to keep bleeding money holding onto something that isn't selling well.
The motivation just isn't the same for digital. There are no limits, warehouses, or store shelves involved there.

Yeaa but you don't get the faster cartridge speeds of the switch 2 and the cool looking red cartridge. Thats one of the main selling points of buying a switch 2 physical game over a digital or og switch one.

This is the worst Prime in the series by far. Extremely linear, simplistic zones, puzzles requiring scanning every mundane object in sight, then -many- forced hours of silent driving over rocks in a barren desert . Not to mention the cheesy NPC storylines/dialogue and weak villain backstory. The visuals, combat, and artstyle are great, but this was such a disappointment. I'd recommend Metroid Prime 1 remastered over this for any newcomer.

Honestly the load speeds weren't great on cartridge for switch 2, only digital. I wish i'd just bought the switch version and I wouldn't even have bought a switch 2 as this was the game I was buying it for mostly. At least in have starfox tomorrow and OoT remake in 2 years.

Edit-had to change sellers to Amazon. For some reason it defaulted to woot.com when I clicked the link
