This is a good price. Free Switch 2 upgrade, no upgrade pack or anything, it just updates automatically when you put it in your Switch 2

I would have to say no and to just jump on this if interested. Square Enix doesn't typically like to discount mainline DQ titles more than around 50% or so. Great game and it's a steal at this price if you ask me.

Having not played DQ since Super Nintendo was current gen, do you lose anything by "starting" with DQ3 instead of the 1&2 remake?

most people in the dragon quest subreddit say you're supposed to play 3, 1, 2. square released 3 before the 1&2 remake for a reason

DQ3 is the first game canonically, the ancestors of DQ3 are the MC for DQ 1+2 thats why it was released first for the remake, it might be more confusing playing in in order of 123
