I have been on the fence for a while. In my experience using friends machines, they don't really keep up during parties where there are more than a handful of people and drinks are flowing. At this point I'd rather pick up a couple $4 10lb bag from Sonic and stash in the freezer. Might work for you if you have the freezer space, and I think Chick-fil-A also sells their ice if you have one around.

I feel your concern.
I just fill up two Gallon Size Ziplock bags in the morning, keep them in the freezer. When the party hits, you have enough ice. I have mine on a schedule to start at 8am,

Its one item that if it broke right now, I would go buy another one becuase I use it everyday.

Hope that helps

I've had this for about 6 months now. If you plan on using this mainly for parties, it probably isn't worth. It does make ice really quick and may keep up depending on how large the party is. I bought this for daily use as our family enjoy this type of ice more but the maintenance on it can get annoying. Depending on where you live, you may have to clean it more often cause of the water you use.

Is great I just recommend getting extended warranty I have 2 of those making a horrible squeaky noise after about a year... all maintenance and descaling on time and still dying.. Get extended warranty to be safe!.

Great ice maker, just make sure to clean it every few weeks. People don't and then complain. It's not hard, just time consuming.

Tried one at CES and the nugget ice was honestly amazing—probably the best I've had. But yeah… that price is hard to justify
