The Legion Go S stands out as a SteamOS friendly handheld that can feel faster than Windows, with strong framerates, a great screen, and hall effect joysticks that should avoid stick drift. SteamOS installation is described as quick and easy, and the device is praised for better sleep and wake behavior once Windows is out of the way. The Z2 Go chip is framed as stronger than the Steam Deck OLED for many Steam games, though mouse driven RTS and FPS play is a weak fit. The $550 price is seen as more attractive in light of current memory pricing and Steam Deck increases, making it a solid midrange option if you want Steam gaming first.
SteamOS handheld gamers who want better framerates, because SteamOS installs easily and runs games faster than Windows on this device.
Players who want a compact PC handheld for Steam games, because SteamOS support is strong and the device handles Steam titles better than Android handheld setups.
Handheld gamers who value low-drift controls, because the hall-effect joysticks are designed to avoid stick drift.
Docked players who want extra performance headroom, because raising the power limit can improve speed and eGPU docking works well.
Users who rely on sleep mode for long battery life, because Windows sleep can be unreliable and hibernate can increase SSD writes.
Shoppers comparing against higher-end handhelds, because the lower-tier chip and 16GB memory can feel less compelling than faster alternatives.
Mouse-driven strategy and shooter players, because the controls make RTS and FPS games a poor fit.
People who want the simplest console-emulation setup, because Android handhelds are easier to configure and maintain.

You do need a USB C thumbdrive or an adapter to get a regular USB thumbdrive to plug into a USB C port because that is what the legion go s has.
