EVgo's $5 July 4th credit is a small charging credit that can sometimes be redeemed smoothly and used through the EVgo app at partner locations, including some ChargePoint Level 2 stations. It has helped offset pricey public charging, especially on road trips, and the credit balance can be checked under Payment and Billing, then Transactions. The main catch is that eligibility and expiration are murky, with reports of some credits disappearing or dropping to about $5, while app messages about fast charging, EVgo owned stations, and expiration dates have changed over time.
EVgo promo credits can be used at ChargePoint Level 2 chargers through the EVgo app.
EVgo promo codes can work immediately and add EV credits to the account balance.
EVgo credits can be applied to partner sessions by activating the session through the EVgo app.
EVgo credits have enabled low out-of-pocket charging during visits in Chicagoland.
EVgo $5 credits may not apply as expected, including cases where the account balance drops to near zero.
EVgo promo wording can be confusing because credits are advertised for EVgo-owned fast charging but can behave differently in practice.
EVgo fast chargers may be unavailable or out of order, which can ruin charging plans.
EVgo charging costs can be higher than other providers even after credits are used.
