S11 no long has bluetooth S-pen and air gesture features or ability to press the button and use it to take a picture.
S11 doesn't come with 5G versions in the US.
No ultrawide front facing camera on the S11.
I personally like the S10+ size best, but some people might like the smaller S11 tablet, so that's a wash, but the downside is the battery is smaller on the S11.
The S11 in this deal comes with 128gb of storage. The S10+ came with a minimum of 256gb.
Haptic feedback was removed in the S11 tablets. This means no vibration when you get a phone call or play games with vibration and no little buzz when you type keys on the keyboard (that's the feature I use most).
The anti-reflective coating was said to be removed on the S11, but I haven't seen it side-by-side with my S10+ to compare how much different it is.
There are probably a couple others I'm forgetting, but the main benefits of the S11 are that the screen does get brighter (useful if you're outside a lot) and it's a lighter tablet. IMO, they cut too many features on the S11 compared to the S10+, which is why I got the S10+ when both were on sale.

If you have access to Samsung EDU/EPP pricing on the Samsung site, this same S11 tablet with 128gb is $414.99. The 256 gb version is $499.99 and 512 gb is $669.99. Even based on historical pricing, those are solid deals!

Is this the best portable size tablet in terms of display and compute? I don't want a bigger tablet. Would it be better to wait for the s12 release to get this? its only a few months away I think

Yes and do you really think the new one will be on sale like this at launch?

So I am not a fan of Samsung... to much bloatware, to vulnerable of a device.

But I am a fan of this tablet. Have the Tab S9, gave it to my kid and purchased a RedMagic Gaming Tablet.

I feel for longevity get a foam case. And if it is less then $75 for double hard drive, I may consider it.

Far from it.

Lenovo and Redmagic make small form factor gaming tablets with similar specs. I personally have the Redmagic 9.06" tablet and love it.

Actually, it was just announced.... it is faster (i would say much faster) then this Samsung.

I have this. Don't use it much, but it's very nice. Got it for travel. Comes with GPS (many tablets either don't offer that or, like Apple, require you to buy the more expensive cellular model to get GPS). Gorgeous screen.

Good deal.
The only downside is that Samsung didn't bring the 5G versions in the US of the S11 tablets

Actually there are lots of downsides to this tablet over the previous generation S10+.

Doubtful, even Samsung's trade in credits have gotten worst with each new release.
