I am 37. In school, we never learned anything that happened starting in the 1950s/1960s onward because it wasn't "history" yet. What a shame b/c now all the people during that era that made such an impact (aerospace, civil rights) or sacrificed so much (Vietnam) are gone or quite old, and people my age were never given the opportunity to learn about what they did. The efforts it took to reach outer space and ultimately the moon are some of the best and proudest achievements this country has ever had.
