I'm in the market for an upgrade from my ancient Surface Pro X (which still works great, btw... just slow for anything outside of basic tasks) but I still feel this price is too high. Unfortunately with the price of memory and storage these days, I'm not sure if it will drop much more.

It's actually dirt cheap because it's ARM. The x86 version costs twice as much. If you want to stay on ARM, this is pretty good. You might be able to get these fake-refurbished for $100-$200 less over Thanksgiving.

I've been looking at these recently but turned off by internet comments about app compatability with the ARM processors. I assume this same issue will apply to the new x2 models? Might have to bite on the overpriced "for business" version for the Intel processor.

The ARM-on-Windows fear is way overblown. Unless you're gaming or you have some ancient or specialty peripherals (old ass printers, etc) this will almost certainly work fine.

Thanks for the feedback. I wouldn't be using it for gaming or photo / video editing, just basic office work, Claude and a bigger screen for streaming apps than my phone. Should be fine I'm guessing.

Macbooks are in a good place right now because all of the RAM pricing contracts Apple was smart enough to put in place.

However, those contacts are going to be ending and Tim Cook has already warned that the next iPhone is going to be markedly more expensive. I'm sure that will apply to Apple's computer lines as well.

I have been using this model since it came out. Payed over double that for it. I have not had one issue with any app. Didn't have my printer driver, but used the Microsoft printer driver fir Arm and worked flawlessly. You can even install Fortnite on it and it plays great! Does get a little hot, but man was getting 70 to 90 fps at good settings! It is also really fast. A lot faster than my 12th Gen i7 surface studio laptop.
