This 5 tier filament rack is aimed at keeping spools organized near the printer, especially for new filament still in boxes or PLA and other opened spools that do not need strict humidity control. The rack design looks solid and practical, with enough space for boxed filament and a little extra room, and similar racks are described as sturdy enough to move carefully while loaded. The main knocks are wasted vertical space between tiers and the lack of spacing details in the listing, which makes it harder to judge capacity. It is a neat storage solution if you want easy access without building your own rack.

Common Questions (4)

  • It works best for new, unopened filament in its box, or for PLA and other dry-use spools kept in a printer room. Opened PETG, ABS, and other moisture-sensitive filaments are better kept sealed in vacuum bags or humidity-controlled storage.

  • Yes. It is described as pretty solid, and multiple racks can even be moved while fully loaded if handled carefully. A 7-tier version from the same company is also reported to be sturdy.

  • The spacing is not listed, but it appears sized for filament stored in its boxes with a little extra room. That layout also leaves some flexibility for unboxed spools, though the design is criticized for wasting vertical space between tiers.

  • Yes. Printing similar modular racks can cost more in filament and tie up a printer for a long time, while this rack is described as the better value. The printed versions may look nice, but buying is the more cost-effective option.

It cost more in filament to print those than it does to just buy these racks. It also ties up the printer for an incredibly long time. I printed several of these until I realized it was really a waste of time and money. But they do look nice!
Good point, actually 😂

If you think you have a filament problem... Welcome to my world lol. The attached not even all my filament, plus another like 40 spools coming from the Amazon Haul deals yesterday. Attached photo is storage I printed, but I also have one similar to the one in this OP which I keep right near my printers.
I hope you're using some kind of inventory system like Spoolman to keep track of what you have, and how much filament is remaining on each spool!

Yes, both are free on Makerworld.Link to the ones going up to the ceiling: https://makerworld.com/en/models/...Id-1010841And the ones to it's left: https://makerworld.com/en/models/...eId-370507The one going up to the ceiling is going to end up using more filament (I kept adding and adding until my ceiling forced me to stop lol), but you only need to print what you need. The one on it's left, I have it up to 5 rows with 5 foot conduits and for stability reasons, I'm afraid to continue building it higher.
I'm going to need to print that. I have filament everywhere I stoped counting after 265, and have about another 200+ rolls.

I definitely should, but I keep track of inventory the old fashioned way via a spreadsheet.

I could see a spreadsheet being OK just as a list of spools, but that sounds like a bit of a nightmare to try and update after every print job to reflect remaining filament on each spool.

I started using Spoolman to manage about 120 spools of filament back when all I had was an Ender 3 V2 running via Octoprint. It works so well, integration to Spoolman very quickly became a REQUIREMENT for any new printer I would even consider using. Klipper intergration is fantastic on my Voron Trident.

Yeah, your way is for sure better. I don't really keep track of remaining quantity of filament for each open spool. Embarrassingly, I have multiples of almost every spool of filament I own outside of specialty filament which I don't use much.

Still, I've been meaning to start using spoolman, but never got around to it.

Oddly, the listing doesn't say how much space is between the racks. The attached photo is from one of the Amazon reviews. So it looks like the space is just right if storing in their boxes and a little extra room without the boxes. They probably wanted to cover both scenarios. I personally use my similar rack for opened filament of mine which which doesn't need to be stored with humidity control (basically PLA variants, all though in my printer room, I can keep PETG out for quite a while without any effect)
Yeah, I would use this for new filament sealed in box. Opened PETG in gasket boxes. But I guess this would be inadequate for the others in this chat who have most spools in play.

I've got several of these and they're great. I can even drag them around while fully loaded, though I do it carefully.
This is also the best price I've seen for one. I'd recommend getting the 7-tier one.

My room humidity is around 50%. Is it okay to have the filaments racked and exposed to open air?

PLA should be fine, PETG might work(YMMV), anything other than PLA I would recommend keeping them sealed in vacuum bags, and dry either before or after.
Vacuum bags: https://www.amazon.com/Hifree-Fil...0GGYQ2F35/
Buy these from AliE or Temu. I bought 22 of these for 10 bucks on temu and i use handheld vacuum cleaner to seal directly instead of messing with cheap vacuum pump it comes with.
