Switched from Orbi tri mesh system which was a horrible system had to often restart the routers to this, couldn't have been happier it just works. Had to restart it once the 2 years I owned this

I had this router, was happy about it and one time suddenly bought smart light switch from tapo. So I realized I can easily have smart home(it does have iot network just for this devices if you want) so ended up with really sophisticated system and things like termostat,garage doors, cameras, fans, lights and even some appliances are just in my Google home app under 1 click... anyway this router is good for everything you may want to do in your home...

I don't get it... per whatever that price tracker thing is called, isn't this the same price it's been most of the time for the last 2 months?

What am I missing here?

I'm looking at running ubiquiti u7 lite for other parts of the house off of my ATT fiber provided router. Or would this be better?

I use a UCG Max as my main gateway and use 3x Decos in AP only mode. Works flawlessly. This method is better in the long run as im not worried about tp-link ending future tp-link security updates, since my main is the Ubiquiti.

Need to pay a subscription fee to get any security features on the IOT network (VLAN)

That subscription seems more like marketing to me. Even if some of this stuff is good, $36 a year isn't much compared to other subscriptions, but the pricier one with the VPN might be worth it. The VPN actually works, and you can easily pick which devices to use it on or just apply it to your whole network. (I used my NordVPN subscription). Plus, it has a feature that lets you make any device on your network accessible online. I used it to host my own business, but I decided to switch from a $150/month internet plan to a $40 one and pay for a VPS instead (it's just cheaper). But, for example, I can now use it to host my home assistant (saving $60/year).

The only problem I had was when I was using AdGuard Home; it kept messing up my network, even though I wasn't forcing traffic through that DNS.

Anyway, I honestly don't see anything that makes you have to buy their subscription (I never even tried the trial, though).

Had similar issues with orbi (or Horbi) and much better experience with tplink.

costco has a slightly better TP link model for $360

and none of this remotely close to being a good deal..

Actually there is no expiration on return policy at Costco for these, I've returned my TP link after 2 years and purchased BE13000. Go ask at the customer service in Costco, they'll tell you the same thing. Don't ask the people working in TV/tech department, they don't know Wink

most likely yes.. you need to the app to set them up.. and that most likely requires an account
