TP-Link's Deco Wi Fi 7 mesh systems are being used as reliable whole home networking with strong smart home support. The mesh setup is described as stable enough to run for years with little maintenance, and the router can create an IoT network for devices like lights, thermostats, garage doors, cameras, and fans. The app setup likely requires a TP Link account, and some advanced security features on the IoT network require a subscription. Pricing also looks better through TP Link's own store, where a coupon and free indoor camera brought one BE10000 order down to $342.55 after tax.
Homeowners replacing a flaky mesh system, because it can run for years with only an occasional restart.
Costco has been cited with a slightly better TP-Link BE13000 3-pack around $360, with slightly better speeds and range than the BE11000 and a 90-day return policy. The BE13000 also has one fewer Ethernet port on the back, but that was described as having no real impact.
Setup likely requires the Deco app, and that usually means creating a TP-Link account. The app is used to initialize the mesh units and manage them afterward.
Yes. The Decos can run in AP-only mode behind another gateway, such as a Ubiquiti UCG Max, which keeps the TP-Link units handling Wi‑Fi while the main router handles routing and security updates.
The VPN feature can work and can be assigned to selected devices or the whole network. It also includes a feature for making a device accessible online, which can be useful for hosting services at home.
Ive been looking at these before being posted here as a prime sale. I already have some Deco units, but they are almost 4 years old so I am upgrading & will use these as the main units with the older 3 linked in others rooms. I just ordered the BE10000 directly from the Tapo store https://us.store.tapo.com/
And used a coupon code WELCOME10 which took off an additional 10%. My total came down to $342.55 after tax. The also included a free gift, an indoor smart camera. I went through a cash back site, but it might not get credited because they had the use of coupons clause as a reason for denying cash back.
Also on the Deco app they let you "spin the wheel" for a surprise coupon which I did win, but they won't let you combine these 2 coupons so the 10% worked out to be cheaper.
It's a generic coupon (i tried different emails & got the same coupon) for $25 off so I'll post here if anyone wants to try it.
Coupon: 25OFFPDUT1OG5E1A8. Mind you these coupons are only if purchased through Tapos site directly not Amazon.

The mesh system can run for years with minimal restarts, which supports stable day-to-day connectivity.
The IoT network feature can integrate Tapo smart devices and manage them in the Google Home app with one-click access.
Using the TP-Link units in AP-only mode with a separate gateway can reduce reliance on TP-Link for future security updates.
Buying through the Tapo store can unlock extra coupon savings and may include a free indoor smart camera gift.
Security features on the IoT VLAN network can require a subscription fee to be enabled.
The VPN and subscription features may be disrupted by certain DNS setups like AdGuard Home, which can mess up the network.
Coupon and cashback eligibility can be limited, since coupon clauses can prevent cashback credits.
The deal may not be competitive compared with a Costco alternative that offers a slightly better TP-Link model at about $360.
