Isn't having a AA battery better for long-term for the reason you say? Easily accessible and easy to swap. Built in ones can often mean ripping of the pads and dealing with random vendors for a new battery. As someone whos mouse is no longer available to buy, I would welcome anything to increase longevity.

Good point and I agree about the easy to access battery swap. The issue is finding a GOOD 1.5v (not 1.2v) AA rechargeable battery for a decent price. It just ends up costing more all together.
