This is actually a really nice knife at that price. I was impressed with the action and overall quality of the unit.

Some of Schrades offerings in this tier is AUS10 though right? Not that steel is everything I think I would prefer this over an assisted open one I got.

I don't know the answer to that, but I find AUS8 to be a perfectly acceptable budget still at this price point.

Yes and No

I haven't sent this knife is AUS10A. The Midwayusa ad is mislabeled as such, but the picture of the knife says AUS8.

AUS8 is perfectly acceptable at this price point, but I'd be more concerned with the chinese heat treatment. Bad heat treatment and tempering can ruin even premium blade steels.

I know schrade is really trying to win back customers after decades of cheap chinese junk, and have even moved some production back to the US, but I think I'd rather wait for a kershaw since they seem to have their production and heat treat on point, here and abroad.

Yeah I guess they're not doing Prime Days, but D2 ones are available for around $35. A while back I did get a Kindred and that's a button lock.
