You will be hard pressed to find a 2026 launched modern day laptop with 32 GB of faster DDR5 RAM, 1 TB fast gen 4 SSD, 16" touchscreen with 350 nits brightness, modern Intel Lunar lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4 at this price of $899 in today's market where 32 GB of the faster DDR5 RAM is worth 520$ itself (used to be 1/4th the price at 130$ a year earlier) - no thanks to the AI boom
PC World Review of this laptop [pcworld.com]
For people concerned about Acer not being that well known, Acer quality has improved over the years and this 16 AI model is well built. It has aluminum top and bottom panels (not all plastic, keyboard base is plastic but has enough rigidity per reviews). The hinge is well built per the reviews. Also see the Amazon reviews of the corresponding SnapDragon unit [amazon.com] (different processor, same body and build) and it has 4.3*/5 out of 164 Amazon reviews - I considered that in my purchase also. I am buying this for my nephew for a CS 4 year course, so I weighed a lot of factors (this and the PC world review [pcworld.com], and the Video review [youtube.com]- video review is on snapdragon but build quality translates to this also)

The Acer Aspire 16 AI stands out as a lightweight 16 inch productivity laptop with a 120 hertz matte display, Intel Core Ultra 9, 32 gigabytes of RAM, and 1 terabyte of storage. The Intel Arc 140V graphics are integrated, so they will not match a dedicated GPU, but they are described as good for light gaming and roughly GTX 1650 level. The 350 nit screen is considered usable outdoors, though not ideal for heavy outdoor use. Build quality is described as mixed between aluminum panels and a plastic keyboard deck, with the Target listing noted as the safer source and a Target card trimming the price further.
The laptop can reach around 365 nits maximum brightness, which can help outdoors use.
The Intel Arc 140V integrated graphics can handle light gaming for non-dedicated-GPU needs.
The Aspire 16 AI includes a matte display that can reduce reflections for near-window viewing.
The Target purchase can add an extra 5% off when using a Target card.
The laptop body can include a plastic keyboard deck, which may feel less premium than all-metal designs.
The 350 nits brightness may be insufficient for frequent outdoor use.
The integrated Intel Arc 140V graphics are not close to dedicated graphics cards for gaming.
The Amazon listing may be riskier because it is sold by a third-party retailer with poor ratings.

That model has:
Upsides
- Has better all metal chassis (rather than plastic and metal for Aspire)
- Lighter at 3 lbs compared to 3.4 lbs for Aspire
- OLED display is more power efficient for mostly black documents
Downsides- Has 250 Nits vs 350 nits brightness screeen, brightness better on the Aspire
- Light Gaming is better on the Aspire - this has older Intel graphics which not as good as Intel Arc 140 V on the Aspire
- Has only 60 Hz display vs 120 Hz on the Aspire
- Has more glare inspiring glossy screen vs matte screen on Aspire
Update: I am choosing the Acer Aspire 16 AI only since the Aspire has better brightness (350 nits vs 250 nits) and matte screen (near windows, less reflections and more brightness matters) and can do better light gaming. Besides has 120 Hz screen for better scrolling and gaming.Join The Conversation
