This coupon thread centers on using the military discount to cut the cost of Grand Theft Auto VI preorders on PlayStation 5 or Xbox, with the code working and reportedly appearing in verified Target accounts. The strongest appeal is stacking savings, including RedCard, cashback, and discounted PlayStation Store gift cards, to bring the Ultimate Edition down sharply. Physical copies are valued for resale and lending, but the launch version is described as code in the box or otherwise requiring internet, with the coupon itself being one time use and expiring before the preorder window.
Veterans with verified Target accounts who buy through the store regularly, because military coupons can appear in the account and stack with other savings.
Players planning the premium edition through PlayStation Store credit, because the upgrade can be bought with discounted gift cards for about $65 before tax.
Players who want to keep the game entirely on the console without store credit, because the premium upgrade path can leave cash tied up in PlayStation Store balance.
A stacking approach reportedly can reduce the Ultimate Edition cost to around $65 before tax using Redcard, military discount, cashback, and discounted PS Store gift cards.
Yes. The coupon has been used successfully on the GTA VI preorder, and it can also be applied to Xbox console preorders, not just PS5. It is a one-time-use code.
The launch version is described as a code-in-box rather than a true disc release, with rumors of a later disc edition in December. That means the box may include a code instead of an installable disc at launch.
Not fully. The physical copy may still require an internet download because the game is expected to be larger than a Blu-ray can hold, so the disc alone may not install the whole game offline.
Yes, the 20% code expires before the preorder window for this deal. A separate November promotion is mentioned as a possible fallback, typically 10% off when buying two items.
My steam library is mostly indie games. Even the AA and AAA games in my steam library were bought at deep discount. Pretty sure the average transaction price for a game in my steam library is like $7 (less if you count bundles through sources like Humble Bundle and Fanatical). That's why people like Steam. That combined with the fact that, at least for the last 23 years, Steam seems to be good forever. Buy a game now for PC and you can download it or keep playing it 10, 20, 30 years later on whatever computer you have at the time. If you bought a console game 20 years ago, it would be unplayable on modern hardware. Overall, Steam is convenient, versitile, has solid community features, pricing tends to be solid. I'm not some massive PC gamer, nor a PC exclusive gamer (I own a Switch 2, PS5, and have owned other consoles in the past from all 3 major modern console manufacturers). But Steam is definitely a better way to digitally buy games compared to console digital game stores across the board.
Tbh, all consoles now are in a mature phase compared to back then. OS for these consoles will stay the same with updates and will continue with backwards compatibility especially with digital games being the future. Consoles are now built using the same architecture and resemble pc more and more now. It will be foolish for sony or Microsoft to not support current digitally bought games on future consoles.
I don't have a military discount. I bought a 100$ gift card for 85$ sams club and ordered the ultimate edition, I don't see an ultimate edition physical copy for sale anywhere yet. I'm sure you can buy the add on once the game releases. Do the pre order bonuses that apply to digital also apply to physical edition vice city something , free month of gta plus?
Why would the disc be better? Honest question. Wouldn't that be also just single player?
This is why everything is going to all digital, you will pay for a license to play the game and own nothing society. Buy physical, you actually OWN it, and can sell the game if you don't want it anymore.

It's not but people like having physical media. Me personally I'd rather just get digital over having to swap between 3 discs because the game is so large, and having to wait for the physical to come out which is t even confirmed. Plus u will miss the preorder bonuses. 100% just go with the fake physical version or just get it on the ps store. Also rockstar confirmed they won't have a disc version anyways

If you want the premium experience, it looks like:
- Target Redcard (5% off)
- Military Discount (20% off)
- Top Cashback portal (2% off)
- PlayStation Store Giftcards (15% off currently at Sam's Club or Costco, but $100)
Use the PS giftcards to purchase the $20 upgrade to the Ultimate Edition.
At this point, you've acquired the $100 Ultimate Edition for approximately $65 not including tax, but of course you now have $80 of your cash stuck in PS Store credit. Which shoudln't be an issue if you regularly play/purchase new games via PS Store sales.
One time use code. Wait until December for disc release, it's only single player.
Online will be separate paid add on
I don't think a disk version is confirmed. It seems a bit silly they are having a code in box physical copy and a disk version.
I'm hoping it happens but we shall see.
I honestly doubt the disk version would be the entire game on disk but more so just what Indiana Jones did where it's one disk and downloads the rest.
Also downloading 3 disks worth of a game isn't that big of a deal... after it installs you won't have to worry about it again.

My chief complaint with this is I have several games that don't work on current hardware on PC, such as Stubbs the Zombie, I had to get the remaster. I am annoyed my Mortal Kombat Arcade collection crashes pretty hard right away as well, I don't really want to buy the new collection. I still get lots of crashing in games like fallout 3 and that still works fine on my xbox Series.
That's one thing I will give to GoG, they do a good job of tweaking games so they work on newer operating systems and hardware.
For those asking why physical media is so important, it's about ownership and being able to access the game in the future. Sony just recently removed some paid movies from their customer's library because of licensing issues and they had history of doing the same with many old games. I even lost 2 games (Shank and Shank 2) from my library. I tried redownloading the game on my PS4 a few years ago for nostalgic reasons but I couldn't because apparently the license wasn't renewed between the publisher and Sony and now the games that I bought are gone forever; no longer available to download off PSN. Anyways, its your money so do whatever you want.

The military coupon reportedly works and can be applied to Xbox console pre-orders as well.
The coupon code is reportedly one-time use and can already be sitting in a Target account for redemption.
The PS5 disc version can reportedly be resold after finishing the game or loaned to others.
A stacking approach reportedly can reduce the Ultimate Edition cost to around $65 before tax using Redcard, military discount, cashback, and discounted PS Store gift cards.
Online content may be a separate paid add-on, but there is reportedly no confirmation about that detail.
The coupon code reportedly expires before the pre-order timeframe, which may limit timing for redemption.
Offline installation may be impossible even with a physical PS5 disc because the game size can exceed Blu-ray capacity and require internet downloads.
Digital ownership can be risky because licensing can remove purchased games from a console library and prevent redownload later.
