Toxic Diets: The surplus heavily subsidizes High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). Food conglomerates pump this cheap sugar into everything, forcing taxpayers to fund their own obesity and diabetes epidemic. (And the healthcare industry loves a steady stream of sick, paying customers).
🏟️ Billionaire Sports Stadiums (Over $30 Billion since 1990)
Local governments routinely hand over billions in taxpayer funds to build mega-stadiums for billionaire franchise owners. The ROI? A handful of seasonal minimum-wage jobs and spiked ticket prices, while the owners pocket the profits and taxpayers eat the municipal debt.

Right now, governments are falling all over themselves to hand out massive tax exemptions, discounted electricity, and federal infrastructure subsidies to the most profitable tech conglomerates on Earth. Local power companies are raising costs on consumers to find the massive infrastructure required for data centers.
The ROI? We are bankrolling power-guzzling AI data centers that create virtually zero permanent local jobs, strain our municipal power grids, and inflate a massive speculative tech bubble. We are effectively forcing taxpayers to subsidize the very algorithms being built to replace them.
Corporate subsidies are absolutely worth public discussion and awareness. But it's wild that we selectively outrage over funds pushing aerospace and clean energy forward, while happily ignoring the billions we spend year after year to corrode our cars, our health, and our wallets.
