The 11 inch iPad Pro M4 at $799 is mainly appealing for getting the OLED display and 120 hertz ProMotion in a compact Pro model. The M4 is described as solid, and iPad Pro longevity makes the platform feel worthwhile for long everyday use. The main drawback is value, since M5 pricing has been close enough to make the older chip harder to justify, and some orders have been canceled for a technical issue. There is also concern that Target stock could be older inventory. A decent pick if the display matters more than chasing the newest chip.
Tablet buyers who want OLED and 120Hz without paying for the newer chip, because the display upgrade is the main reason to choose this model.
Shoppers who want a solid everyday Pro tablet and can live without the newer model's extra RAM, because the M4 is described as solid and the M5 upgrade is only a modest step up.
Buyers who need the newest chip and extra memory for heavier multitasking, because the newer model offers 4 more GB of RAM and a slightly improved processor.
$799 is a strong price if you want the 11-inch OLED and 120Hz display. The M5 is being discussed at $899, so the M4 saves about $100, but the M5 adds 4GB more RAM and a slightly improved processor.
The 256GB model is tied to the lower RAM tier, while higher-storage iPad Pro models get more RAM. If you want the extra 4GB of RAM mentioned in the thread, the M5 or a higher-storage configuration is the better fit.
The Target M4 may be older stock, and a box that has sat for over a year can have some battery aging. That matters mainly if you want the newest inventory, while the lower price may still be worth it for a device that typically lasts 6+ years.
Orders can be canceled with a "technical issue" after checkout. That makes this deal less certain than an in-stock purchase, so it is worth watching for cancellation emails and backup options.
Yeah that usual $899 sale price for the 11" iPad Pro looking way better now that Apple (and everyone else) has bumped the bad model MSRP to $1199!! Now even a "good" sale on this thing will be above retail.
But for anyone in the market for an 11" iPad Pro if you can get the Costco deal, or anywhere else, for $899 still I'd wholeheartedly recommend ponying up the extra $100, taking that deal and running with it lol. Otherwise, at new current MSRP this is technically a $400 "savings" over M5 (at full retail) for not a huge loss of power and features (unless you're really into the latest and greatest AI features that are supposedly coming later this year from Apple)
It is okay. I bought my m4 in December for 699. That was max I was willing to spend for m4. But it is solid. I mainly wanted it for the OLED 120hz. Otherwise technically an air is all I need.
what's the best deal now on any ipad, relative to the recent price increase. Costco is sold out except for the lowest category ipad...the $299 and $399 ones.

Costco inventory of m5 model comes and goes. It was OOS yesterday morning but reappeared in the afternoon. Some stores around me show low stock for $900 model. I was reluctant to order it but my 2nd gen iPad Pro is getting somewhat slow. Considering that I get 6+ years of everyday use from iPads Pro it is worth the cost for me.
Target has m4 model for less money but I do not know if they are old stock. Probably battery ages somewhat if it sits in the box for more than a year.
