Not the same model, but I tried to get a new bowl lift one (7qt) to replace my old tilt head 15yo one during Christmas, not only the bowl wasn't sitting right and constantly making clicking sound, but also found some black specks inside my bread dough that fell out from the mixer. What's going on with KitchenAid these years? I might try the Sam's one, but really not confident it'll work out.

KitchenAid mixer quality has gone downhill significantly from the days of the old reliable K5A, without doubt the best model ever made by KitchenAid.
Last year I bought their 8 qt Commercial model, which is the only model with their HD 1.3 horsepower 120v DC motor.
It arrived with an out of round wobbly planetary hub and 3 stripped screws (out of 4) that fasten the top cover to the lower main housing of the mixer. The DC motor is known for being much quieter in operation, yet mine was even noisier than the regular 5 to 7 qt lift bowl mixers.
To top that it claims to come with a special orange "heavy duty Commercial" cord, and my jaw dropped when I looked a the cord, as it was imprinted "18 gauge". 18 gauge is more fitting to power a string of LED lights, not a commercial mixer!

I returned the DC 'pro' commercial model in a heartbeat and switched it for a great deal on a 7 qt bowl-lift KSM70 model with all stainless steel paddles/attachments. All their mixers in the past 20 years are a disappointment, as compared to their mixers they produced in the decades prior to the 1990's.

How is your KSM70 working out so far? I'm not really in a hurry to get any at the moment, as my old 4.5qt artisan one still serves me fine, and I have Bosch universal plus to handle larger load. I use the KitchenAid more with the meat grinder attachment these days and small batch of cookie doughs, just recently my kid dropped the cookie paddle and chipped the coating off on a corner. I may just have to ignore that and continue on.

I'm very happy with my 7qt lift bowl, tho I packed it in storage way ahead of time, for an upcoming move. Past few months I've been using my small 4.5 qt 'Pioneer Woman' brand tilt-head mixer, primarily making cookie batches.
I like my 7qt KitchenAid, but honestly if I ever found an old K5A lift bowl in mint or excellent condition I'd try to trade it for the K5A in a heartbeat.

Costco model is $280 right now. Has a slightly bigger bowl, pour shield, and bowl scraper. If it fails you can always return it.
