This refurbished Helios Neo AI 16S stands out as a high spec gaming laptop with strong value, pairing an RTX 5070 Ti and Intel Ultra 9 275HX with a QHD plus OLED 240 hertz display. Performance is described as excellent in AAA games, with solid ray tracing and frame rates around 60 FPS without frame generation and 120 FPS with it. The main tradeoffs are the loud fans, hot chassis, weak speakers, glossy screen reflections, and very poor battery life. The 240 hertz refresh rate was locked for some setups, though BIOS now offers a 120 hertz option when unplugged, making it a capable travel friendly desktop replacement if those limits are acceptable.
Gamers who want top specs for the money, because the performance-to-price ratio is described as insane despite the compromises.
Traveling gamers who plug in at the destination, because it delivers strong gaming performance in a portable chassis and can be limited to 120Hz on battery.
The Chase eBay offer is 10% cash back on the purchase including taxes and after discounts, but it is capped at $3 total cash back. That makes the effective return very small on a $1,371.99 laptop, so a 2% card can be better.
Yes. It can run hot and loud under gaming loads, and battery life is reported as very poor even for basic browsing. The locked 240Hz panel and sleep-mode behavior are cited as major reasons, so it is best treated as a plug-in gaming laptop.
Yes, the refresh rate can reportedly be limited in BIOS, with a 120Hz option available when unplugged. That helps reduce battery drain compared with leaving the panel locked at 240Hz.
Yeah 10%, but I just realized the max cashback is only $2 per transaction. Terrible
I got scammed by that "offer" too. Could have used Citi Doublecash and made far more money back on what I spent. Always read the fine print, especially with Chase "offers"
My Chase United Quest just paid my claim full refund on a 2 year old Dell G16 and I kept the laptop. The extra year warranty (3 years total) from Quest card is worth more than the cashback.

Is the Chase offer for eBay purchases? Also through browser extension or chase rewards credit card offer? EDIT: I think I found it, but I'm reading in the fine print it's a $3 cash back maximum?
Yeah awful cashback. I just read it. It cost me more in time to review the terms than the value lol

I have the same Chase eBay Offer. It says "Earn 10% cash back on your eBay purchase, including taxes and after any discounts, with a $3 cash back maximum."
This has been around this price for several months due to several known issues:
Bad build quality and thermals (Acer is sensibly worse than Asus/Lenovo for same device tier). It will run hot and be very loud for most gaming.
Random 10-15s freezes for no clear reason. Multiple reports of this if you google around
Battery life is extremely bad due to locked screen refresh rate (240hz) and issue with sleep mode
If you are ok with these, the specs to price ratio is insane but know that you are getting a portable desktop with worse thermals.
Locked refresh rate has been fixed in BIOS for a bit BTW, 120Hz becomes an option when unplugged.
I got this exact refurb ~9 months ago. Overall it has been awesome, I wanted a solid gaming laptop that was easy to travel with. Personally I don't mind the fans (I wear headphones when gaming) and the battery is a non-issue for me, I travel a lot but always plug in at the destination. I would have preferred the Asus G14/G16 but I got one, had daily BSODs, returned and second one did too, gave up on Asus for that generation and got this. If you don't need quiet + long battery, it's a steal compared to the competition 🤷
