LG's 77 inch G5 OLED stands out as a bright, high end TV with excellent picture quality and strong reflection handling, making it especially appealing for bright rooms. The low Greentoe price also looks attractive compared with a recent $2,399 purchase and other premium TV comparisons. The main caveats are that Greentoe can charge sales tax, the G5 does not support DTS audio, and warranty registration should be handled right away through the seller info. A strong value if those tradeoffs fit your setup.
Home theater buyers who stream most of their library, because the TV delivers a wonderful picture and does not need DTS for most modern apps.
Shoppers comparing premium OLED sizes who want a huge screen at a low price, because the picture is described as wonderful and the value feels exceptional.
At $2,299, it is below a recent Greentoe purchase price of $2,399 and is described as a very strong value for the size and picture quality. The G5 is also noted for brighter HDR, better anti-reflection handling, and stronger bright-room performance than LG C6/C6H models.
No, the LG G5 does not support DTS. If you need DTS playback, a streaming box like an Apple TV or Nvidia Shield can handle supported audio formats, and Plex can transcode DTS on the fly.
It can charge sales tax, including in Tennessee. Greentoe may also treat your submitted offer as the full final price, which can affect the total you pay.
Yes. Register the warranty immediately using the seller information so there are no later issues, since Greentoe is only the marketplace and warranty registration can depend on the seller details.
For those that need it, the G5 does not support DTS the format.
Is Sony the only higher end manufacturer that offers this on current models or is there another model you'd recommend? I've been trying to find leftover stock of an LG G4 in this size for this reason but haven't had much luck.
As per RTINGS.com:
"The LG G5 OLED is much better than the LG C6 OLED 2026. The G5 gets a lot brighter in HDR, so bright highlights stand out better, and bright scenes are more impactful overall. The G5 also looks better in a bright room thanks to its better anti-reflective coating, and it's brighter in SDR to overcome glare. This also results in significantly brighter, more vibrant colors on the G5."
But note there is also a C6H model which is only made in 77" and 83" sizes. RTINGS compares them as follows:
"The LG G5 OLED is slightly better than the LG C6H OLED. The G5 is slightly brighter in both SDR and HDR, especially when more of the screen is supposed to be bright at once. Combined with its much better reflection handling, this makes the G5 a much better choice for bright room viewing, as glare isn't nearly as distracting during the day."
So I made an offer on a different model. An offer just a few dollars lower than the best possible price. Nope. The counter? About $250 more than the best current price. What the heck? How is this site supposed to be a good deal? Now I can't really take advantage of other deals until the lockout ends. Stupid business model.

Haven't tried Greentoe. The second you submit an offer you're locked out from further activity there, even if your offer was declined by the seller(s)? How long does a lockout last?

you can select how long you wanna wait when you order, minimum is 2 days, max is 7 days I believe

Since 95% of media nowadays doesn't use DTS, LG decided to remove it. This was their reason. You cab always buy a streaming box like apply TV or Nvidia shield and that will work with it.
And if you by chance use streaming apps like plex, it can transcode it on the fly to the next supported format.
