This Kobalt 24V bundle centers on the XTR 4Ah Ultimate Output battery, paired with a free 2Ah battery and charger at a $49 price point. The XTR pack is described as Kobalt's top battery line, while the standard 24V batteries are said to handle typical use just fine. The extra 2Ah battery is seen as less useful than another 4Ah pack for heavier needs, though extra batteries are handy for tools like a 12 inch chainsaw. A separate $59 two pack option is also referenced.
DIYers choosing between runtime and price, because the 4Ah XTR pack plus 2Ah charger bundle gives more flexibility than two standard 4Ah batteries.
Using an XTR battery in non-XTR 24V tools may carry unknown downside.
Common Questions (4)
The $49 bundle gives one better 4Ah XTR battery plus one standard 2Ah battery, while the $59 option gives two standard 4Ah batteries. If you want more runtime and value from the extra pack, the 2x 4Ah deal is the stronger choice; if you want the higher-end XTR battery, the $49 bundle is the better fit.
Yes. The XTR battery line is the top Kobalt 24V line, but it still works in regular 24V tools and can be used for typical jobs. The main practical difference is that the XTR battery is the better 4Ah pack, while the included freebie is a standard 2Ah battery.
Yes. The deal price dropped to $49 and the free 2Ah battery plus charger is still included. The bundle is framed as a $49 4Ah Ultimate Output battery with a free 2Ah battery/charger add-on.
Yes. Having a spare battery helps avoid downtime when the original pack dies or was not charged, especially for tools like the 12-inch Kobalt chainsaw. Extra batteries are useful if you use the tool often and forget to recharge between jobs.

no, though thats a good deal as well. the one in the OP post is XTR battery (their top line tool line as well as the best batteries they offer. ) though i have many of each and they both get the job done especially for your typical use.

It is a question of do you want (2) of the standard 4 amp batteries for $59 or (1) of the better (4) amp battery and (1) standard 2 amp battery for $49.

Picked this up. All I have from kobalt is a 12" chainsaw. I use it quite a bit, but only have 1 battery. Way to many times it's died because I fogot to charge it. Have extras will be nice
