This Precision 5570 refurb stands out as a workstation laptop with a sharp 4K touch 16 by 10 display, solid keyboard, and enough power for CAD, light creative work, and everyday multitasking. The RTX A1000 is described as roughly RTX 3050 level, while the i7 and 32GB configurations draw praise for value, especially at these prices. The main tradeoffs are refurb condition and battery wear, with reports of cosmetic vinyl covers, scratches, bent parts, and batteries ranging from replaced to heavily worn. A practical pick if the screen and workstation features matter more than pristine refurb condition.
Developers or analysts keeping many windows open, because the 4K touch screen and 32GB RAM handle long-running workloads well.
Some refurbished laptops can have hardware or software friction, including intermittent screen flicker in UEFI diagnostics or missing Realtek Audio Console for the headphone jack.
Some units arrive with cosmetic wear such as vinyl-covered lids, scratches, goo, dents, or bent heatsink fins, and some have battery wear or low drive life. Others arrive in good shape, but battery health and physical condition vary enough that a careful inspection on arrival is important.
The RTX A1000 performs about on par with an RTX 3050, but the integrated GPU is enough for typical web, Excel, and light-use workloads. The dedicated GPU mainly matters for workstation tasks like CAD, graphics work, and some light gaming.
Yes, it fits workstation-style use better than a thin premium laptop and should handle Fusion 360, slicers, Lightroom/Photoshop, and casual games like Forza 5 or GTA V. The i7-12800H and dedicated GPU make it a stronger fit than an iGPU-only machine for those tasks.
Dell support can help with battery problems on Precision refurb units, including replacement-unit issues. The 3.5mm jack may also need the Realtek Audio Console, which can be missing after refurb and restored by installing an older version.

Great deal, while laptop 13th and 14th gen issues weren't as prevalent as desktop, 12th gen is safe and still powerful. A1000 performs about on par with a 3050. 4k touch is a beautiful screen and no burn-in issues vs oled. I use a 5540 as an always on mobile server and leave large file transfers and vdi windows open for hours
I have been out of the computer market for a while, you guys think this precision is a better buy than the refurbished Asus Vivobook 16 flip with Ultra 7 258V 32GB RAM 1 TB SSD OLED 2880 x 1800 with 1 year warranty for $935.44 shipped or the Asus is worth it the $240 difference?

How do you intend to use?
Precision is a workstation compared to Vivobook Flip which is premium light weight. This has a dedicated video card and is intended for graphic design, CAD, etc.
Also, this Precision is a 3+ year old off lease with optional one year warranty compared to a relatively newer Vivobook.

Well It's mostly for web browsing, excel, ocasional light gaming (titles like snow runner, forza 5, gta v, simulator mechanic '18), some fusion 360 design not complex models, Slicers for 3d printing, a bit of lightroom, light photoshop. I'm replacing my old trusty laptop lol a lenovo y480 which it has an i7-3610qm/16gb ram, 512 ssd Yeah it's still rocking like a champ, but definitely need something newer with way better resolution.
For my needs I think either one will do fine, I have been watching some reviews and those Arc140 igpu's seems to perform very good.

Developers or analysts keeping many windows open, because the 4K touch screen and 32GB RAM handle long-running workloads well.
Creators who want a sharp touch display without OLED burn-in concerns, because the 4K panel is described as beautiful and burn-in free.
Power users replacing a 16GB laptop, because the 32GB DDR5 configuration offers a big memory jump for multitasking.
Mobile workstation buyers running CAD or design apps, because the dedicated GPU and strong CPU are intended for graphics work.
Buyers expecting a pristine refurb, because units can arrive with scratches, dents, goo, bent fins, or worn batteries.
People who need reliable battery health out of the box, because some units arrive with heavy wear and over 100 cycles.
Audio-jack users who need plug detection to work immediately, because the Realtek audio console can be missing after refurb and break detection.
Thermal tinkerers wanting an easy high-performance upgrade, because the i9 runs much hotter and the A2000 is harder to cool than the A1000.
