Not even close. Professional reviews on this vac are abysmal. I have an OLD Dyson, and really just wanted this for quick pickups in the basement, but by comparison to even old models of Dyson, this vac is a very poor substitute. I took the first one back, thinking maybe I just got a bad one, but nope, the second one was no better. I bought it because it was a "slick deal", but I ended up returning it to HD.

LOL nah... I had the Animal V6. This is fine and has a removable battery that's ubiquitous throughout Ryobi. If the Dyson batt goes bad, bye bye vacuum.

Depends on the Dyson model and your brand religion. Wife says the Ryobi the one she likes on the half of the house with tile and hard floors and I can't argue with that. We've used a Dyson, I think it was a v6, and a couple others over the years. It was ok, but battery cost / life was eventually an issue. The brushless Ryobi model has hit the sweet spot on cost for performance. Being able to swap batteries with ones in the garage is gold. We use it in a large house with busy traffic, kids, and two dogs that shed a lot. Bought a second one for backup because we like it so much. Put the old one in the RV.

I had. Good if new. The motor head breaks easily. No way to buy replacement head. You can see on ebay there are many people selling half unit without head.

These are absolute garbage. We went through two in less than 6 months . Never should have bought the 2nd, though in our defense, we thought the first was a fluke.

Lots of cheap, moving parts, that clog, break, jam, and malfunction.

They work fairly well - when they work. Which isn't for long.
