This DeWalt fiberglass D handle drain spade is a compact digging tool best suited for trenching, ditch cleanup, and planting or removing small shrubs. The heavy duty blade, D handle ergonomics, and weather resistant fiberglass handle drew strong praise, and the shorter handle was seen as handy for close work. The $9.98 price showed up in select locations, with free shipping or store pickup, but pricing varied by zip code and some orders were canceled. A 42 inch version also surfaced at the same price in some areas, making it a solid low cost option when the local deal applies.
The deal can include free delivery in some zip codes, making the $9.98 price workable for shipped orders.
The 42-inch fiberglass handle drain spade can be discounted at the same $9.98 price point in some areas.
The D-handle ergonomics can improve comfort and usefulness for digging up volunteer trees and removing small shrubs.
The straight-handle version can also drop to $9.98 when the sale price applies locally.
An Amazon alternative is listed around $18.45, which is higher than the ~$10 deal price when the discount is unavailable.
Delivery to some zip codes can raise the price back to about $35.98 instead of keeping the $9.98 store-pickup price.
The $9.98 deal is not universal, with some locations still showing a much higher price like $40.48.
Orders can be canceled after purchase, which can derail the low-price checkout outcome.

Seems well made, and a steal for the price. I like the D-handle ergonomics. The handle is just a bit longer than a somewhat similar D handle shovel I have, which improves it's usefulness to me.
I immediately tried it out digging up some volunteer trees that needed to go. I think this might be one of my favorite shovels going forward for planting or removing small shrubs and such.
