I very, very rarely eat steak anymore, given the prices, and I suspect I ain't by myself.

I assume this would be very high in sodium and would imagine the taste would reflect that.

I eat steak every week. My local grocery store always has steak deals. Boneless ribeyes $7.99lb, T Bones, $6.99. I can afford that.

Jealous. Steak prices tend to be regional, with the midwest having the cheapest prices, and prices inflated out west to deal with transportation/refrigeration costs. 😿

In University, 15 years ago, the local grocery store would regularly sell 'Petite Sirloin Steak' and 'London Broil' for $2.99 a pound (no direct discounts, they were $5/lb when they weren't on the sales ad), something I could definitely afford on my $12/hr work/study job. Now, those same cuts cost $9.99 and $8.99, and are NEVER on sale. I eat steak about twice a year, at Christmas time when ribeye/ribeye roasts are on sale and New York Strip from Saltgrass on my birthday

Thankfully, I can afford to eat Strips or Ribeye etc. whenever I like; I just refuse to pay that kind of money for them.
