Bought this 2 years ago. Strong, heavy duty and still working like new!

The SoundLink Flex 2nd Gen is a compact portable speaker that stands out for strong sound, solid bass, and a flat shape that packs easily without rolling. Stereo pairing with two units is a big plus, and the built in microphone adds speakerphone use. Long term durability looks good, with multiple reports of it still working well after years and even after rough outdoor use. Charging can be finicky with some USB C chargers, though other setups work fine. A capable under 100 dollar portable speaker with a few charging quirks.

  • Charging can feel annoying or finicky when the original USB-C charger is not used.

    thespacecowboy

  • Some units reportedly fail by not charging or connecting, with a continuously blinking red light.

    Geezell

  • Sound quality expectations can be unmet for some buyers who consider Bose overpriced.

Mine was delivered this morning. I plugged it in push Bluetooth and it was automatically connected. So easy and the sound is great. I'm super happy with my purchase.

I have the older Soundlink that is a rectangular with square corners. At low volume it sounds amazing. I use it on my iPhone and iPad Pro to boost the sound. I've owned almost every name brand of Bluetooth speaker and the older Bose has a fuller clearer sound than any including the newer model in this post, at low to moderate volume from 3-4 feet away, your use case may vary. I can't comprehend how it sounds like a pair of huge old school speakers, the "pseudo bass" or whatever the audiophile snobs are calling it these days really is mind bottling lol.

I get where you're coming from, but you shouldn't just dismiss a product based on its brand name. While most of Bose's home theater speakers aren't great, their portable bluetooth speakers are actually pretty great and this SoundLink Flex consistently near the top of recommendation lists for sub-$100 portable BT speakers. Not only is the Bose's flat form factor better than the JBL Flip's cylinder shape (the Bose can lay flat for 360° sound, flat shape is easier to pack, and it won't roll on a slanted surface), but the Bose also has objectively better sound quality than the Flip 6 in most measures according to RTING's in-depth testing: https://www.rtings.com/speaker/to...7098/30417. The Bose also has a microphone for speakerphone functionality, which the JBL Flip lacks. Unless you can find a JBL Flip 6 or 7 on a really great deal, the SoundLink Flex will be a better buy for a majority of people looking for a great-sounding portable speaker under $100.
All that is to say, I'd definitely recommend reading reviews for products for quickly dismissing them based on their brand name.
Bose pays for reviews and positive ratings. Just and FYI, already been proven. When you look at the actual real reviews and technicals, they just are average speakers. I use to love Bose myself. Still think they sound great for the most part but I just don't pay for overpriced brand names anymore.

This is a great speaker by MAN its annoying to charge if you don't have the original USB-C charger. It's really finicky on which charger it uses.
Here I was thinking my cables were the issue.

I've had two of the sound link speakers and both have crapped out and no longer charge or connect. The red light blinks incessantly. I'm hesitant to to buy another Bose sound link speaker.
