This HP Omen 45L 5090 build stands out as a customizable way to get Nvidia's flagship card, especially when configured with 16GB of RAM instead of 32GB. Stacking the 16GB option with EPP and the military discount brings the price down to about $3,636 before tax, and the 16GB choice avoids paying for memory that can be upgraded later. The chassis appears to use standard size parts for the power supply and cooler, but HP may still rely on proprietary components, and the motherboard has limited expansion. Delivery can also slip because these are custom builds, so patience may be needed.

  • Buyers who want to stack employer or military discounts, because the price can fall to about $3,636 before tax.

  • Gamers chasing a 5090 desktop, because the 16GB configuration drops the price and leaves room to add their own memory later.

  • Builders who reuse standard ATX parts, because the power supply fits standard size and the cooler and motherboard can be moved into another case.

  • Owners who keep the system on a UPS, because the default 5600MT/s memory setting can stay stable when the machine remains powered.

  • People who need trouble-free DDR5 overclocking, because the HP motherboard can fail cold boot at 6000MT/s and may require an RMA.

  • Shoppers who need a fast replacement, because custom-build orders can slip by weeks before shipping.

  • Upgraders who need multiple PCIe slots, because the motherboard only provides one slot for a second graphics card.

  • Buyers who want a fully standard power supply ecosystem, because HP may use a proprietary PSU.

For the HP motherboard, I can't seem to get it cold boot (power unplugged) to DDR5 6000 (HP EXPO memory profile) and I guess something wrong with the memory training stability on this build. Already RMAed one so I'll just keep it with UPS for 6000 profile.
Just re-read your message, I didn't read it right the first time.

Memory speed seems hit or miss with prop. boards but I don't try to overclock, it's fast enough for me as I am mostly on VRAM.

I had a ram problem with Lenono when I added extra 64GB but then I swapped the lots the diff ram sticks were in then it worked but I can't get higher than 4800MT/s. some people said these prebuilts always end up clocking to 4800MT/s --- there was a bios menu that I can't get into either but most of my super fast needs are in VRAM so I didn't care too much. It is annoying that I couldn't get to 6000MT/s

My HP ran the default 5200 or so speed I think. or was it 5600 I can't recall

Let us know if you find a fix.

Yes default is 5600 and it works perfectly during cold boot. But HP advertised 6000 in the description. Well, it's working for me if I keep it plugged (and using UPS during power outage).

You mean the AI research powered by the RTX 5090 predicts that the RTX 5090 will see continued price increases? Wild.
No, the AI research was done by GPT 5.5 Pro extension (and you need to have $100 subscription to get the Pro model, in case you don't know):

My one-way call is that the RTX 5090 price goes higher, not lower, over the near term.
I'd peg the directional target as +$300 to +$700 from current buyable street prices over the next few months, meaning more normal listings drifting toward roughly $4.3k–$4.8k rather than falling back toward MSRP.
Why I'd choose up: current supply is still extremely tight, PC Gamer says the RTX 5090 has "all but disappeared" with remaining U.S. stock heavily overpriced, and the global memory shortage is now hitting GPU manufacturing costs. Tom's Hardware's current tracker shows the RTX 5090's best U.S. price around $4,099 versus a $1,999 launch MSRP, while BestValueGPU shows current Amazon pricing around $4,329 and used eBay around $4,000. GPU Poet's June 2026 data also shows the lowest-average price was $3,709, up 2.2% versus the prior three months.
So forced to pick just one direction: bullish on price / bearish for buyers — RTX 5090 goes up.

Got my Xbox Series X on launch day for $499.99 and Gamepass stacked for $4.88 a month for years still to come. Can't see any difference in graphics since PS4 days. Don't waste your money.

Interesting, so you keep buying 5090 prebuild, and sell the 5090 to keep the computer? Why do you need so many computer? Now I've deployed a few local AI services and I can see why you need more than 1 5090 so I feel getting more 5090 is the goal.

I explain it on another thread somewhere. I use them, I sell to people who needs it, the pc I take to upgrade lucky people in my circles. One chap is gonna get one of them outfitted with 5060 TI soon - free. So I will be in for extra $550

A couple of long ass messages about how I use my machines. Haha

Not really Xmas as I scanned fo "5090"'desktops just now.

The lowest I found was $3100-3200 for 5090 PCsOMEN HP 45L Desktop: Ultra7 265K, RTX 5090, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD, 1200W PSU, Win11

I thought I saw some with 64GB before.

This was Jan.

I am too lazy to look and reminisce the past prices lol
my buddy scored a 5090 system with 64 gb for $2999 past October from microcenter! Gold didn't even go up as fast as these systems!Big Grin

Would you happen to know the length of the HP 5090?

While it's installed in the computer case standing up right.

14" length from left to right.

5" depth of the card from outside toward the motherboard - need to add the PCEI interface so maybe 5 1/2" max with the PCIE interface

Height of the card is 3"in (just 2'9" but 3" to be safe. (side view height) - you get the idea.

Finally! That took a long time!

July 20th ship date... vomit but it's ok. Great deal!

Best deal for a 5090 so far since mid April for me is $3500, this last June 29th deal was $3636!

Glad it went below $3900 largely because it offered a 16GB (8x2) config and not forced a 32GB config!

Can't wait to get these fast cards.

I bit on this deal. Thanks for your ongoing informative posts.

How accurate have HP's estimates been? It might be a problem for me if it is delayed a few days from the estimate shipping date.

Awesome! I'm glad!

First few orders were pretty accurate but the Jun 18th order was delayed from 6/25 to 7/13 ship date. The dates slipped for the first time for me Shipped from Texas I think so it is just a few days to get it delivered. 7/16-7/20

This Jun 29th order said 7/20 and should be similar to be so fingers crossed it ships on time! so maybe 7/25 delivery latest I hope

I have no idea how many machines they had in stock so hard to say they are are just so backed up from all of the orders since these are all custom builds!
