I'm old enough to remember the stores doing 5 for $10 on 12 packs for the holiday sales. And it was name brand pop not just the store brand.

Yes, Shoprite in the Northeast here would do $8.88 for 4 - 12 packs. Pepsi/Coke would alternate weeks but both would run similar sales for Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day. And then the pandemic hit..... price gouging for any C02 based product became a regular occurrence
